HEADCAMS!!

Post by thehappyones »

Through WCM, Glasgow Mail Centre meter section were asked if they would wear HEADCAMS(these have already been purchased i believe) to monitor the process in that section, to see where ,when & how mistakes were being made by the individuals and how that mistake would be rectified!!!.
Now the staff in said section gave it a massive "NO CHANCE" aswell as the union reps giving it a big thumbs down as you could probably imagine ,but in true RM fashion the WCM is still pushing ahead with this mad idea ,maybe not on individuals heads but cameras in that section.(the MCM couldn't understand the problem as it was only voluntary)

So is this happening in any other Mail Centre??

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I haven't heard of this, mind getting your own head cams for own personal use, in case Mangers say one thing and deny it later, it would come in useful as some Cyclist found in certain road rage incidents, how many tie you have mangers saying they will sort you out with docket only to deny you OT or it will be thrown in, when its not, making threatening intimidating remarks if you don't do what they say, cameras never lies :Very Happy comes in handy for tribunals.

Okay so head cams are obviously out of the question, they would be a big distraction and would not find problems as people would be aware of them.
Then they want to mount the cameras around the area? Moronic is the only word to describe it.

What happened to these pillar leads and their cronies getting off their backsides and coming down and seeing it as it happens.

WCM is basically an improvement system that uses a bastardised version of the scientific method.

So by thinking through the 'experiment' I would run to find out any inefficiencies that may be occurring with any task, would I want to stand and watch someone with a clipboard and write down what I see, whilst inducing unease in the participant leading to a more inaccurate result, or would I want to record it with a camera, meaning the participant is more relaxed, and I can rewatch the video over and over picking up more and more things, maybe even a few of us watching the video, leading to a larger pool of results?

It's all to do with quality of data (wanting to keep your uncertainty as low as possible).

Not involved with WCM, just paid WAY too much attention in physics at school :silenced

Have not heard of this before, here at gatwick there use tube and bracket for the meter area, the person whos job is to check dates and prices etc,has not been checking the meters for at least four weeks because the acting late shift manager (mrs blobby) keeps sending the person to sort packets because " we are short of people". World class has gone to far and is a waste of time, they have just spent two weeks doing a kaizan on the packet area to change the way of sorting and have decided that they are not sure which of two ways to use. What a waste of f-----g time and resources.
