Help needed regarding transfer request process

Hi everyone,
I am on annual leave at the moment. When I return to work I want to apply for a transfer to one of the the following mail centres: Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Exeter or Bristol.
What is the procedure once I get the form from my line manager? Do I send the completed form off to Sheffield myself or does my shift manager/resource centre do it for me? If it is the latter, what can I do if I believe that my office is deliberately not forwarding/delaying sending my form to Sheffield? Lastly, can I put all five mail centres on the one transfer request form; if I put just one, I could be waiting years?

do some homework first as RM have said that half of MCs are going so not much point in putting a doomed centre in.

Why not phone the individual offices you want a transfer to and ask them directly, f**k what your own DOM manage says as the chances are there will hold you back. I know i would do this

Fill a seperate form in for each office you might be interested in and see what happens. I once had 4 transfer requests on the go at once - first choice was a small DO in national park but lack of staff turnover meant I was at least 30yrs down the waiting list. My 4th choice came up after about 6 months and off I went. If a trasfer comes up that you decide you dont want just say `no thanks`.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was wondering if my manager would need to look at my completed form/s before they were sent off to Sheffield, or whether they would contact my office for references after they received my transfer form/s? I'll dive right in anyway and contact the offices directly tomorrow and see what they say. I am looking to move from London to a nicer part of the UK -maybe cheaper living costs as well-and think that the MCs mentioned would be spared the axe. They wouldn't close down Cardiff or Edinburgh, would they? Would they???
