Re: light and easy tuesdays
As someone who has worked in other industries may I suggest that it is because most companies take two days to get their ass into gear after the weekend and don't start posting UNTIL tuesday !!! I doubt that the work is actually there to be done in the Mail centres until tuesday night. Can anyone else cast any light on this ?bringon4dayweeks wrote:can someone who works in a mail centre please explain why tuesdays are so light ?

Not light in my office, enough to keep me out until my time and that's only recently during the 'post Christmas' drop in mail.

Gave them back four streets.
They were just little streets though...about 40 calls each.
Does that count as "light and easy"?

Re: light and easy tuesdays
My 2p worth.
A large proportion of the weight experienced towards the end of the week is mailsort.
its a fact that some advertisers like to have there magazines etc delivered Friday .
this gives punters the weekend to browse .
big mailers like sky call the tune.
Monday and Tuesday can be letter numerous but are almost flat free.

Don't be so naive - just as we monitor mail on an individual level, so do Managaement on an office level and so on up the chain of command. EVERYONE KNOWS IT'S LIGHT ON TUESDAYS.jack straw wrote:You're gonna get your hours cut talking like that on here mate. Some people can't be helped can they? Re: light and easy tuesdays
I suggested to my line manager that we could have a rota system for Tuesdays where X amount of staff would take it off under flexibility and work the hours back on the other days. A few staff liked the suggestion, others were happy to carry on as they already are.
In the end they decided to scrap flexibility, at least for those of us who don't want to get up managers back sides.
