It's a big MC thing,but apparantly it's coming to DO's as well.
Will move this to the MC forum maybe one of them could explain.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Whatever it is, you can GUARANTEE us mere mortals on the "shop floor" will be shafted......
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

and 40 mins meal break on it that if WCM comes to DO'S
then the the excrement will become airborne, all WCM is
about is cutting jobs nothing less, the stupid part of it is
that staff have got involved in this voluntary suicide and
are doing the company's dirty work for them(fuds!), really
don't know why the union did'nt "advise" staff not to get
involved.Although these days RM & UNION are just about
the same thing(IMHO)so folks give it a body swerve or if
your d/o gets involved study the fine print because their
cunning blighters these RM flymen, but then you already
know that........don't you

We've been having wtll's about this. Most people came out of the meetings none the wiser.
Some thought it was something to do with pillows, others said it was pillars. All agreed it was boll@xs.

Re: WCM - What the hell is it?
The Pillars, are groups of people, who become responsible for finding better ways of achieving that goal. For example: Improving H&S, Improving efficiency, etc.. These groups are SUPPOSED to consist of OPGs, and former PHGs. But are always headed by Managers. These Pillars then report back to Managers, for updates, and the final say in any changes. If any of the Pillars fails (either through lack of interest/effort from the Workers, or Managers), then the whole system fails. That's the point of the awards (Bronze, Silver, Gold), as an incentive to keep the Pillars "strong". An award can only be given to an entire site. So if you have one or more Pillar(s) that's doing a fantastic job, and other Pillar(s), which aren't doing as well. You won't get the award. Everyone must work as a team, or it can't work.
When it's done properly, it's a very efficient system, which has helped a lot of Companies. The whole point of it, is to ask those of us who actually DO the job, how to make it more efficient and safer. But RM aren't doing that, unless someone comes up with a suggestion that'll allow them to cut staffing levels, or sell equipment. So IMHO, WCM in RM is going to fail miserably, in the not too distant future.
Another wasted chance to improve things.

Re: WCM - What the hell is it?
Well, they had the cleaners in over the weekend in our office as part of this "wonderful" WCM thing we are in...
Problem being - they chucked EVERYTHING out (including stuff we'd lableled in BIG letters NOT to dispose of)
Stuff like York Labels, A BIG box of Elastic Bands, and the little TORX screwdrivers we use for tightening up the screws on the LSM's - ALL thrown out...
The problem being, there is NO-ONE on the Night Shift who can print out the York Labels as the Addressograph Office is locked shut!
What a great start.
