hello,
i've worked in a mailcentre for five years, started on lates, and now on nights.
so i don't know much about the delivery side of things.
found this site while looking up on the internet for information about the sickness agreement cwu made with royal mail that allows managment to slap stage 1 warnings on staff that have a completely valid reason for being off work. such as a hospital operation. i found the cwu agreement as a pdf file on the internet and it talks about management discretion and mitigating circumstances. so if that's true why am hearing from my collegues that they are penalised even when their sickness is due to a serious condition requiring hospital treatment?
either there are mitigating circumstances or there aren't.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
