EVR ins and outs?

Post by teletubby »

If you take evr of say 20k and do not find another job(not for want of trying). You live off your 20k.When can you claim any state benefits? That is what is the threshold of savings etc. before you can claim? Is it also true that since you left your job....you have to wait a minium of six months to claim anything?

If you have lost your job through redundancy you normally qualify for Jobseekers Allowance. Although you cannot claim Income Support or Income based Jobseekers Allowance if your personal resources (including redundancy pay or unfair dismissal compensation) exceed 8,000, you may qualify for Contribution based allowance.

Yeah i thinks thats's right TBT. If you've paid in enough contribution then you can claim contribution based. Something like £67pw if my memory serves.
Mind you, council tax and mortgage help you wont get.
