Re: RTS sorted on imps
How does this work exactly? Do they keep the RTS stuff separate from the normal mech?
Technically there's no reason why redirections couldn't be automated as well. I'm pretty sure the USPS run their redirections through their machines. But our machines would probably need modifying as well as the redirection/kill off stickers.

Re: RTS sorted on imps
all the RTS are prepped so the return address is at the front, then the RTS mode switches off the CMR so that the IMP ignores the orignal codemarks. The RTS is run on its own,and not mixed with other mail types.Haitch P wrote:How does this work exactly? Re: RTS sorted on imps
with regards to running redirections through machines it works, we are doing it at our mail centre and we have had no problems rts mail will depend on the delivery offices prepping it properly, i still find dnr mail redirected so that will take some time here i think !! only put redirections through that have not already been coded

Re: RTS sorted on imps
here at gatwick mail centre before we got the Bronze Award (joke) they started about a month ago putting rts through imps, what a waste of time because before we used to sort them on letter frames, but now they put rts through imps to save time. Most of the rts has to resorted on the primary again. We now use a new tube and bracket system which has only 12 boxes, what a load of crap, this is supposed to be world class what a joke. Letters are sorted in the 12 boxes and then resorted on to 10 back roads which again is broken down again into about 8 different selections. If this is the future god help us.

Re: RTS sorted on imps
In our DO we have started preping our RTS to be sorted by the machines. We used to do the full primary/secondary sort on everything except packets anyway so MC will actually have more manual work now
