Job Description
Do you have excellent observational skills? Are you a good communicator? Are you trained in deciphering and evaluating computer screen images and x-rays?
Royal Mail are now recruiting Airport Mail Screeners. If you are reliable, self motivated and a good team player, you are the type of person we’re looking for.
Hours of work: 6.30pm to 10.30pm Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week
You will oversee the receipt and preparation of mail for aircraft departure. You need excellent communication, numerical and writing skills for the purpose of communicating effectively with the police or other government agencies.
You’ll be expected to maintain concentration as you complete repetitive tasks. You should have excellent observation skills to interrogate mail by profiling and x-ray screening. You will decipher and evaluate computer screen images so you can identify prohibited and threatening items, including explosives, incendiary and other devices.
You will calibrate screening machines to DfT standards and must successfully pass a DfT approved Level 1 course and an Ishihara colour blindness test.
