all outward and inward thru 1 IMP plan!

Post by hubbahubba »

Managed to find out this week that RM are rolling out new plans for the IMPS so that ALL outward AND inward are put thru on 1 plan, also all postcode destinations will have only ONE residue box(eg PO res,M res LS res etc etc).Dont know if they will be extending the modules or squeezing it all on the current set-up(my MC has IMPS with 160 boxes at mo,but i know they can go up to 240 apparently. Was told this is a National plan, and not just a local thing, starting in around 2 months?!

Sounds like an extension to the three-frame sort but with the selections used for the three-frame sort being applied to the IMP plan. With all the inward stuff going through one plan then it sounds like all DOs in your area will get their letters walk sequenced and anything letters that either the IMP or walk sequencing machine reject will go straight to manual sorting.

yeah,i think so.At the moment we have 3 CSS machines with another 5 on the way!We are going to walk sequence all the mail for the DO'S in our postcode area at the MC,then deliver them to the DO'S.we currently sequence mail for 4 DO'S,but in the end all the inward will be sequenced,im assuming on this new "super plan" ready for the CSS to walk sort...

Do BT, EH and G areas get any splits? I can't remember offhand if they get splits for the three-frame sort. I know they are the only ones which get splits for outward tracked stuff.

Two more modules of sixteen stackers each were added to take the imp to 192 stackers. Further to walk up and down and really 66 extra boxes as we did some residue bundle boxes before. Outward is one box for one postcode mostly, with some groupings like SY LD TF. Inward is one box to each sequencing batch. There is also a whole imp inward only plan, as not all the batches could be fitted onto the outward/inward plan which includes four secondary sorting plans. Dont know where the savings are supposed to come from in changing to all of this.

they do at the mo,but after this new plan comes in,we were told only 1 box per postcode!(although i expect they will have to have more than 1 selection for your nearest neighbouring MC'S?

CSS= COMPACT-SEQUENCE-SORTER is run by 1 person, these are the machines that RM are installing in MC and DO's,and i believe these are what you are refering too.

We've had them for 3 years now. While they've kept a handfull of us on a 'night shift' (23.00 - 09.00) being a machine operator is the hardest I've had to work in 23 years !!!!!
