Change of hours

Post by dorsetposties »

the shift manager at my office has said that we have to finish now at 9.30 (i finish at 9 o clock) because of a failure that happened (their not giving anyone anyone any overtime thats why!) My union have disagreed with this and put a notice up saying its a request but I have been told that it will be coming in under a 3 disagreement? All the delivery offices around us have had revisions brought in by the management and I'm wandering what this is a 3 disagreement and what does it mean as we are being told nothing by anyone, one side saying it won't be in the other side saying it will?

Do they want a permanent change in your inishing time, or is it just for a couple of days?
If it's short term, they can request (but not impose!) a 30 minute change in your finishing time, under the Pay and Modernisation agreement. But they have to ive you that time back later, so your total hours stay the same.

For example:
9:30 Friday
8:30 Monday

Perhaps they're aruing over whether it's optional, or compulsary to have the 30 minute change. If not, I've no idea what they're on about.

Its permanant, the shift manager wrote us all a letter saying that from the 27th April she requests that we stay till 21.30 because we failed one night and as the depatch does not go out until 2130 we should be staying until that time. The rep has said she can't change it and has put up a sign saying that he went to see the mail centre manager and it is only a request but she is saying that she will enforce it after going to this stage 3 business?
I just don't want to stay later and my work has finished and i will only have to go on the letters or flats

They are probably talking about Stage 3 of the IR Framework. I don't know the details of how it works. But I do know, that it is the final stage of the framework, when it gets passed to National level in the CWU and RM. One of the Reps on here, will be able to fill in the details for you.

Has this disagreement been going on for a while now?
I thought it took some time to reach Stage 3. :confused

Ballot for strike if you dont want to change!Your rep should be doing this anyway!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But there isn't many people effected. The rep has now said she cannot force us, but she is saying that in time she will force us and its better to do it wilingly...... Even said to one person that she is doing her a favour and will revoke it if she doesn't conform!!
