Postman Nostradamus
I am intrested with people's views as to what major changes will have been imposed by this time next year? It's also a surefire way of starting paranoia. Get those poundstretcher crystal balls or rank tea leaves out and predict!

Re: Postman Nostradamus
I sort of agree with FmrPOSTIE, I can't see the TNT partnership (at least not in the foreseeable future) because of the problems pushing the legislation through the Commons and with all the other interested parties resorting to court to try to get their hands on RM. I can see RM pushing ahead with MC rationalisation but it'll take them a while to find new sites and to build them into be fit for purpose, of course, being RM they'll probably mess things up

Oh, another thing, I think deliveries will be sort of left alone in the coming year and that all their attention will be towards the MCs and distribution.

Re: Postman Nostradamus
Yes, deliveries will never change that much in terms of RM is, and always will be the only company willing/required to do this. TNT aint interested neither are DHL. Social mail is does not provide enough profit for these privateers. MCs and the network will undergo yet more change but maybe for the good of the company.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Oh, another thing, I think deliveries will be sort of left alone in the coming year and that all their attention will be towards the MCs and distribution.
Interestingly - RM sold off alot of its property a couple of years ago and now rents them back - so there might not be much "fat" to cut & money to be made wrt to Royal Mail buildings.

Re: Postman Nostradamus
Deliveries have borne the brunt of the current round of savings, there is little or no room for any savings at the moment (I'll wait until these fantastic new sorting machines are in and working before decideing on what savings are feasible).

Re: Postman Nostradamus
Croziers contract is up in October (I think), that and the fact that he took all his deferred payments would say to me that he knows that he's going to be going.

I further predict by the end of the Financial year,we will really be no more--at least the way we were-----do you think it is just coincidence that T.N.T.are now looking to recruit, (Part -time) two days a week,
'people to deliver addressed letters? They seem to have an afwul lot of vacancies going in 'your' local areas.(Google it and see)There will be psties, but not as we knew them. beam me up -Scottie.

I just did (google it, that is) and blimey! you're right. Here's a quote from the tntpost site:stokes11eg wrote:do you think it is just coincidence that T.N.T.are now looking to recruit, (Part -time) two days a week,

I expect their 'delivery operatives' will on just above minimum wage.TNT Post is currently recruiting for part-time delivery operatives and team leaders to work on a Wednesday and/or Friday.
Delivery Operatives
Acting as the public face of TNT Post, delivery operatives will be responsible for the final hand-sort of mail into the desired sequence, and delivery of the mail to business and residential addresses within predetermined rounds. You will be required to deliver mail on foot or by bike so it is important that you are physically active and willing to work outside in all weathers.
Team Leaders
Team leaders are responsible for the co-ordination of all the activities that take place at the delivery unit. The team leader will motivate and manage a team of delivery operatives and is responsible for resource planning and quality checks. Team leaders will have to undertake deliveries so it is important that you are willing to get involved.
Both of these roles require flexible and motivated people, and could involve an early start. In return we can offer flexible hours, competitive rates of pay, uniform and other benefits.
