Are there any weekend full time people out there?

Post by cobrakai »

I work at a large mail centre, and myself and my colleagues have been threatened with a dramatic alteration to weekend working hours (scrapping of shifts etc). The main concern for most is that they are on a family friendly 26 hours on a weekend (over 2 days) but RM want to increase the shift to 40 hrs over 4 days (including a full 10hr day on saturday!). The main bug bear is not only the increrase in hours but the fact that many of my colleagues have a signed document saying they agreed to the hours/shift.

RM say they will give 4 weeks notice of this change, some of my friends fear this will not be long enough to seek out alternative employment (most of them have 20+ years in the buisness, some of them have only had one job).

I was wondering if anybody else on here is from a office where this has happened (we have tried to get in touch with Cardiff as i am led to believe their weekend shift was ended the same way).

Not 100%,probably 99.9% that to change your contract they have to give you 60 days notice.
We DO guys had this with the later starts malarkey.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
