Jersey Flight Announcement
‘Royal Mail and Jersey Post have made the joint decision to remove the current dedicated postal flight and instead use the pre-existing ferry service to send and receive post from the island.
This will result in a two-day service.
All mail to and from the island will be delivered by ferry from Monday 7 August.’
Will RM continue selling ‘First Class’ for mail and parcels to the island, hoping no-one will notice?

Re: Jersey Flight Announcement
Will all the Jersey and Guernsey stuff go via a MC (either Dorset MC or Southampton MC) or will the lorry go direct to an RDC (either SWDC or PRDC)?

Re: Jersey Flight Announcement
At the moment.
I think you can wave goodbye to the flights to Guernsey, IOM a nd Ulster eont be far behind.
Eventually, the next day service to/from Scotland will follow.
Goodness knows what the delivery times will be to Outer ZHdbrudes, Orkney and Shetland

Re: Jersey Flight Announcement
Today onwards could be ‘interesting’.
Officially, all mail to Jersey goes by ferry.
Does anyone know whether RM will have the cheek to still charge ‘first class’ prices for, at best, a 2-day service?
What about ‘next day’ SDs?
Will we still have to bag up everything or will a RM truck transport everything in Yorks? (Won’t miss the bagging!)
Anyone know, yet?
Thank.

Re: Jersey Flight Announcement
Also how will they be routed? There's two ferry routes to the Channel Islands, one from Poole (the local MC is Dorset MC) and one from Portsmouth (the local MC is Southampton MC).NW11851 wrote: ↑07 Aug 2023, 09:19Today onwards could be ‘interesting’.

Will the work go straight onto the ferry and not pass through either MC?
Will either MC have to process any of the mail (eg sort to DO level or sequence any mech)?

Yep, and some have been saying much the same for the last 100 years, yet here we are, still chugging on.guardianangel wrote: ↑09 Jul 2023, 15:35Don't blame them its the pits here, the rich will soon flee as there is not much left to bleed dry.wallan wrote: ↑09 Jul 2023, 09:34Some in Orkney want to rejoin Norwayguardianangel wrote: ↑09 Jul 2023, 08:48If i was them id apply to join the state of France as this country is going down the pan.
It must be so debilitating living under that cloud of corrosive negativity.
