in our MC flexi will never work as we have two meny finish times nights (ie 6:00, 6:24 & 6:30) so if the 6:00 are asked to stay back 30 mins will the 6:24 and the 6:30 have to stay back 30 mins to? I think not, as thay go at 6:15 anyway.

Currently everyone finishes at 6.00am at our MC so we don't have that problem. The difficulty we're having is that they're trying to impose later start times under the guise of 'flexibility'. They want move the start time from 10 to 11pm but I'm pretty certain that the flexibility agreements don't allow for such an imposition.

Royal Mail cannot move your start/finish times under the 'flexibilty' agreement. The 30 minute variation in start/finish times
is only in EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCE. ie when there is a possibilty of a dispatch failure.

For the first time (since the agreement)i was asked to go round last Thursday morning at 0300 hrs(army times) and ask for people to stay behind for the max 30mins.I had already compiled a list of volunteers for this.We done about 25 mins and have all had the offer of when we would like the time back.Strange but it worked.
60 or 65, I wonder.

And what consequences were there (if any) for those who declined the invitation to stay another 30mins ?

We had a manager telling us that repeated refusals could 'result in possible disciplinary action under the conduct code'.

I thought this + or - 30mins malarkey was supposed to be voluntary ?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Band wagon? What are you a sheep? The more you put in the more you're gonna feel robbed, in my opinion. I very much doubt any amicable agreement can be maintained. It's only a matter of time before the manager upsets the staff or vice versa. The flexible working environment always ends up with dummies being spat out. Start when you start. Finish when you finish. No favours in between. No more and no less.

You've yet to get a mouthful of the after taste! Remember it's early days. From what I can gather from colleagues in my office. Those who stop back to aid the dispatch are being told they can come in late for their shift the following day, as opposed to going home early.

oldrope, with those morals and principles, have you considered management?

Ps... You wanted to suck and see, I wonder, did you swallow too??
