New third Super Hub
Can anyone else see this happening sooner rather than later as RM is earmarked for another hub in the future to reduce the amount of journeys the hgvs do to the midlands hub from ridiculously long distances eg south east and Cornwall

Re: New third Super Hub
Was ruled out as cost of land down south is too expensive.

Re: New third Super Hub
But there's only so much money you can save by automating this one step of delivering parcels.
If Royal Mail was smart - as well as being cold and ruthless - they'd realize you don't need a big mail centre to have a PSM. They're smaller enough, relatively speaking, you can rent a warehouse anywhere and plop them down anywhere.

Re: New third Super Hub
Did many mail centres close due to the two new parcel hubs?

No Mail centres to my knowledge, but during the dispute I'm sure I heard a figure of 8 or 9 could go. No idea where though.

Re: New third Super Hub
No.
From it’s terminus at Euston, the line runs in tunnel to Old Oak Common; then in tunnel below Greenford Mail Centre and swings away from London towards Birmingham…
RM now has two rail-connected hubs, neither of which are used by trains

Genius planning....!!

Utilising the UK’s electric rail network for customer deliveries
For the first time in the UK, Amazon has also launched rail deliveries at scale. Products will be loaded onto train carriages on the fully electric West Coast Main Line, which runs between Scotland and the Midlands. The products are picked from stations close to local Amazon delivery and fulfilment centres – ready for sorting and packing ahead of customer deliveries. To further reduce on-road traffic, products are also transported from stations and Amazon’s wider fulfilment network to ferry ports while giving small and medium-sized UK businesses easier access to European markets.
More than 20 million products sold on Amazon are expected to travel on the UK’s electric rail network this year, avoiding traffic congestion and carbon emissions, with plans to expand across further rail routes before the end of the year.

Re: New third Super Hub
RM should have had rail links for all the RDCs, hubs and the larger MCs.
