All colleagues who work for at least three hours between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00 have the opportunity to receive a regular free health assessment via a screening questionnaire.
The assessment, which has been compiled with guidance from Royal Mail’s occupational health service provider, will identify any risk factors associated with medical condition(s) and then enable advice to be obtained on how you can manage them effectively.
How it works:
· To receive a free health assessment, night workers must ask their line manager to request the questionnaire on their behalf by 28 September 2021.
· The form will be emailed to the employee to complete.
· Health questionnaires will be emailed directly to colleagues to complete and return to the occupational health service provider.
· Participation is voluntary and if there are no health concerns, employees and line managers will receive a report to confirm this.Page Content
Nicholas Burns, compliance and sustainability planner manager, says night shifts has its perks, but working against your natural sleep cycle can have implications.
‘Some people love to work in the dead of the night, for others it’s a rite of passage. Whatever the reason, working nights can increase your risk of serious health conditions and diseases – so please have your regular checks.
‘Research suggests that people who work shifts, particularly night shifts, may be more prone to certain health conditions due to the changes in their body clock leading to reduced rest, changes in eating habits, taking less physical exercise and having less social interaction with family and friends.’
If you regularly work night shifts, for steps you can take to help maintain and improve your health and minimise any adverse effects...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
