Mail centre shift pattern
Hello I'm thinking of asking for a transfer from opg to mail centre and I'm after some more information about how the shifts work as I have young kids. Do you do a week of earlys? Then lates? Then nights? Just need to know if it would be possible around childcare etc. Also anyone working in mail centres how do you find it and is there overtime ever available.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Mail centre shift pattern
Shift rotation was zed years ago. The times will vary a little but the shifts are in general timeframe of:
Earlies: 06:00-14:00
Lates: 14:00-22:00
Nights: 22:00-06:00
Obviously that doesn't take into account the SWW.
You won't just stay in a single work area. Over the course of a shift depending on what you're trained on, you could end up spending some time in absolutely every work area over the course of a shift

Is it rotating day off or the same?

You don't rotate shifts, you stay on the same shift

Re: Mail centre shift pattern
OK that could work then. What's the standard contracted weekly hours. 4 days-32 hours or 5 days - 40?

But they are getting rid of staff atm and I have heard more EVRs are on the cards in the next year I am not sure that you could get into the MC. I did hear also that transfers are on hold unless its a compulsory one

Re family friendly duty requests RM are only obliged to consider requests by law but they can refuse them if its not a viable option.

We took some staff on a few months ago (ex Angards). If we were to get rid of staff then we'd have no staff left. RM staff are always outnumbered by casuals, some days probably 2:1rainbowwarrior72 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2021, 11:28But they are getting rid of staff atm and I have heard more EVRs are on the cards in the next year I am not sure that you could get into the MC. Re: Mail centre shift pattern
If a transfer was possible what would the likely hours be. I'm currently on 30. Are mail centres standard week 32 or 40?

It would depend on what is availablePetecartmell wrote: ↑29 Jul 2021, 15:09If a transfer was possible what would the likely hours be. I'm currently on 30. Are mail centres standard week 32 or 40?
You could be offered full time hours or your current part time hours
There are people at our plant who only work 1 day a week it just depends on your contracted hours
I’m a full timer on the early shift who’s times of attendance are 06:00- 13:46 Tuesday-Saturday

We consider 37hrs to be full time (anything less then that is considered to be part time)Petecartmell wrote: ↑29 Jul 2021, 15:09If a transfer was possible what would the likely hours be. I'm currently on 30. Are mail centres standard week 32 or 40?
