Listening one to ones started last night, seems to consist of just giving them 3 options as to what you want to do IF the MC closes! The flyers that were given out said it was a session for them to explain their thinking and for you to voice your concerns but seems to be just a preference exercise! Can someone explain to me how you can give 3 choices for your future when you have no idea if a) you don't know if the office is closing b) you have not been given any figures on VR or excess travelling payments c) you have no idea what duty sets will be produced should the work move to another office?? Also one guy was told that if he transferred over to deliveries his night shift allowance would not be protected for the 3 years because that was his personal choice to move over, surely MTSF states that your shift allowance is protected if you're forced onto another shift paying smaller or no allowance, and isn't a mail centre closure RM forcing you off your shift should you choose not to or are not able to commute a 40 mile round trip to work every night??

Royal Mail are testing the water to find out who wants VR, your three options are not formal so you could chose what you would prefer, staying put is not an option though.

The site might not even shut.

There are other tenants here who would need to be moved should the place become surplus. Floor 2 / AMU etc.

It isn't going to shut as deliveries are staying put, according to the link someone posted.

If my memory is correct, the only Royal Mail Announcement about a new centre in Hants, was for a new Parcelforce Depot.

At a SW region briefing I attended in Exeter, Tony Fox mentioned that we were nearing the end of phase one of the Mail Centre Rationalisation, so I wonder what phase two is?

I've said the site is staying put. Can't see Royal Mail saving any money PO mail centre is a vast site, Corporate Security, AMU and POL are lodgers. Squaring what Royal Mail do with POL activity inside the mail centre will be a hurdle. I'm not talking the counter at the bottom either

Having security (IB?), AMU or POL is no guarantee, as any of them could be moved to another site in a week. I can't see why POL still have sites in MCs as Safenet was axed a few years ago now

I assume you mean Dorset Mail Centre,i am a bit perplexed by this one as an option.Would it be reasonable for staff to travel 50 miles each way and not be offered Southampton first?

Nothing wrong in that unless rules are broken, and taking action just because of a circular argument would be a form of censorship.

Think there was 14 at first union meeting and 10 at the second, seems to be no fight left in people, they have accepted the inevitable, the union may have been working behind the scenes so to speak but that isn't coming across to the membership and they seem to have decided to look after number one, sad but true, its also a pity that the review team lead has taken to using the letters page of the local newspaper to inform the general public that the team are working hard with the unions over this closure programme, which is of course being rather economical with the truth
