mail centre closures list out september/october time ?

Maybe there is a big clue in this months courier on the middle pages.

enlighten us , whats the clue ? my courier is in the bin !!!

The middle pages of the Courier had a list of some 30 odd Mail Centres / RDO's that have or will have the principles of World Class Mails enshrined in to their daily works schedule. Extrapolating the fact that the Mail Centres numbers must be halved, like the rest of Europe, then there will be about 35 Mail Processing Centres left in a few short years time. If your names not on the list .... you cant come in. However as there are a few DO's in there and offices that may be under threat of closure anyway its not definitive, so some offices have to be added/removed. Over to you Grim Reaper.

Oh goody - mine's on there - and also found out last night that my Duty stays the same so it DOESN'T go into the Revision Repick due 1st November!!

Can't believe that if your duty doesn't change then it wont go into a repick? especially when the business is cutting duties all the time.
All duties in our office went into our last repick although MTSF was used to sort out seniority.

"World Class Mail" Wow - I love that. It sounds so commanding. So powerful.

If only they'd put in an exclamation point somewhere. Like, "World Class! Mail" Than it would be perfect.

Amazing! How most of you have got the inside info! What's great for RM is that members start to become sectarian in their approach and worry themselves stupid in the process. Just wait for the announcements all this speculation will cause unwarranted stress. We are not going to be able to change management minds on their preferences. Remember cost per item and the ability to absorb after mechanisation and simplified sortation.

There are some big mail centres missing from this list that will definately not close - Romford, Chelmsford, Sheffield and Birmingham, might be more. The ones shown however do seem likely to remain open.

i think people are genuinly concerned because the management at royal mail havnt got the decency or respect to inform their staff of mail centre closures before the press get hold of them.If royal mail does get privatised then perhaps there will be a regime change from the top down and there may well be at least some clarity!!

Birmingham to be taken on by North West Midlands just 15 miles away in Wolverhampton,
Sheffield to be absorbed into Leeds,
and Romford and Chelmsford are smaller than them so they won't be about for long.
We're all doomed.

Don't forget that Birmingham is a very big MC and so is Wolves. Even after the closures there will still be some MCs very close to each other, eg Greenford and Jubilee. Sheffield and Leeds will both remain simply because if the huge geographical area they cover.
Wolves is likely to take in Shrewsbury and Birmingham will take Worcester.
