I've spoken to a couple of ex-RM managers in the past and both were very happy to escape
Those waiting for a future management cull will be left kicking themselves if the VR deal next time round is less generous.

My thoughts are that the next round of redundancies will be on worse terms. I have heard that 800 non ops managers volunteered to go, don't know how accurate this is though. Not heard how many ops managers put in for it, if I'm guessing I think it will be quite high.

This is a risk, a gamble but at 40 if I don't do it now I'll rot away and leave it too late. I see this as the first round of management cuts, and certainly not the last, and agree with you that the terms are likely to be less favourable next time.

It was a big decision, and could spectacularly backfire ( I do have a couple of options though). Worst case scenario is we can manage comfortably on my wife's wage for a while, although i honestly don't think it will come to that.

It was like a huge weight lifted once that formal offer came through the post. After months of rumour and uncertainty, followed by the bombshell of 1600 cuts, I now know that the rest of my life lies away from RM.

I'll miss the genuine hard-working bunch that the majority of you are, always liked a bit of banter with the frontline troops. Sadly, I can only see the job getting worse for anyone remaining in the business, and I think there are more huge changes coming.

I'll be checking in here still regularly to see what's going on, but once again - I'm so glad to be out of it all!

Congratulations! I am surprised that you say that you are only 40 though, I assumed you would be over 55 and would get your pension. But it's good that you have some options going forward, and wish you well and hope things work out for you.

Manager redundancies at Bristol Mail Centre, due to be announced this week, have now been delayed until the middle of June. The CMA blocked the announcement due to the affect the reduction in numbers will have on those managers remaining. Non operational managers are not happy with the whole thing, with 20% of them due to go. Latest operational figure to go is 16 across all shifts.

CMA ???, since when did they have a say what happens in RM ?????

Clearly a few years old but a good insight into what was going on behind the scenes .... I particularly like the line "Unfortunately the best people were self-selecting to leave and low performers were left in the organisation" a clear example of how incompetent RM senior management was at that time.

This is becoming a joke now. Should have heard by mid June. Too many rumours, obviously date to find out about VR for those who have applied has been put back yet again. No explanation as to why, no comms sent to managers via CEP in last month. Senior management showing a complete disregard and lack of respect to front line managers! Still not been informed of end of year PDR mark either, bonus due to be paid end of June so wages branch must know our marks before us. Totally unacceptable!

What was your bonus last time round?, how much do you expect the next bonus is going to be? Know all too well about management showing complete disregard and lack of respect to front line staff.

Any manager from Mail Centre or Delivery Office got redundancy ? or was available to Admin staff only ?

Its very funny really...the old MCM came back to our office as the DOM. Our office was a delivery, processing and distribution unit. We lost the processing and kept a small distribution hub but the office is now a main delivery office due to the CSS machines.

Heard on the grapevine 18 managers have been given EVR at Birmingham Mail centre they must of been well overstaffed
