If Its due to cost cutting, or falling traffic. why are they still employing agency staff??
The unions job in this exercise, seems to be to work with royal mail in making these closures take place with the least disruption.
we would be better off with a rep from the local job centre.
The Business Transformation agreement is that the CWU work alongside RM in the review process. When an individual MC is reviewed the decision has already been made, the CWU will of course ensure that the review is conducted properly to ensure that employee options/issues are dealt with as a priority. The overriding principle is that there are no compulsory redundancies.

No compulsory redundancies? looks good on paper. but that just means RM can and will just offer a job in another office (if there is one left with a shortage of staff?). and if you dont like it tough .So VR.
Truth is probably RM cannot make you redundant unless your job no longer exists. And they cannot advertise of fill your vacant position. The annoying part of all this is people living in the area of the mail centre closure, will still require, and get a delivery of mail.
Royal Mail is no longer the service it used to be. and the union is no longer united. Royal Mail is being picked apart like a fat cats chicken dinner.

Interesting that Wales will join Northern Ireland in having only one Mail Centre.
Then it's 4 for Scotland and 29 in England.
No Chester covers Wales, although based in England it serves Clwyd and Gwynedd.
So there will be 2 according to the above that cover Wales.
My comment was about where they are, not where they cover.
It's common knowledge that postcode areas, and therefore Mail Centre activity, straddles England's boundaries with both Wales and Scotland.

Is that why the quality of play back on mine seems to have dropped in the last month. 2 discs in May were unplayable and 3rd kept skipping, yet over the last 4 years I only had to return 1 before that was unplayable.
Lovefilm will be complaining if thats the cause,

In respect of SY to Chester,TF to Chester and LD to Cardiff,Shrewsbury mail centre workers were given a list of options of which these 3 were included.However the review has not finished and not been agreed by the CWU yet.
July 10th 2012 is the date that any concrete proposal will be announced.Does the announcement of the new Regions mean that these are RM's final proposals in relation to Shrewsbury.
If so surely RM are breaking protocol by announcing these new Regions without any CWU agreement or counter proposal in relation to the final decision over Shrewsbury's future?
Also is there a link to the latest map of the new Regions?
