I can only agree whole heartedly. We have been stitched up by Angard and Royal Mail on the promise of a busy Xmas period and plenty of work. What a load of old hog wash that turned out to be. Cheap Xmas Casuals have taken our jobs and oh guess what, RM will expect us to be back as usual after Xmas in 2013 and after the casuals have moved on. Employee loyalty my foot, there are just plenty more of us where we came from!!

I have worked steadily for Royal Mail since Christmas 2010. Kept on after and worked regularly all through 2011. When RM farmed us out to Angard in Sept 2011 we still continued to work even despite the drop in shift allowance etc. Lucky enough I did not suffer with the pay debacle that befell many last year. We still turned up, did the hours.

Working relationships with the regulars? SOUND. Listen if you work anywhere you always going to be the new kid on the block.

Work was patchy during most of 2012 but a few hours here and there make the difference when you struggling to pay bills. There was a feeling of loyalty with the Managers on the floor and often I was covering shifts (especially Bank Holiday weekends and Fridays) at the drop of a hat (last minute phone call).

The letter from Angard asking us not to apply for work at Christmas, at the time, seemed a sensible idea. How wrong we were!

It just seems wrong that those employed by Angard should now read about about the struggles of "RM Casuals" to be vetted security checked, ID Cards got etc etc. Whilst we as experienced workers (vetted....oh maybe not) are ignored not only by Angard BUT RM also (no reply yet from "Just Say It").

Bottom line is there are many of us who were relying on the extra work this Christmas and have held off applying for anything else (even RM jobs!!).

There must be an answer and a reason for all this? I guess the answer is obvious BUT. How greedy, underhand and against all principles of fairness does this make RM look?

Reason I ask is because Friday all us casuals got taken in a room for like a meeting and the manager said if we are off for say one day and then dont turn in the next day that is it we are no longer in a job, now I know we dont get a union like the permi workers do but we must have some rights I mean surely you cant just loose your job for being of ill can you?
I work for Angard as a casual and have lost shifts due to the influx of RM Xmas Casuals. In my opinion the 'RM casuals' should consider themselves lucky to have a job at all, when most of them (from what I can see), don't have a flippin' clue, can't read and can't load a flippin' york either, one of the fundamentals! AND from what I have seen they are generally very lazy and not at all concerned about errors in mail sorting, talk about paying peanuts and getting m....ys! They have an 'attitude' about being 'Royal Mail' and have the cheek to look down on us as only Angard casuals. Why on earth RM did not look at the bigger picture and make better use of it's own 'in-house' casual staffing solutions pool via Angard goodness only knows. Many of us have been there a long time and in some cases many years. We would have been the logical solution in being able to 'hit the ground running' rather than having to spend time on training etc. I guess this is just another example of the RM dinosaur (not) getting ready for privatisation! OMG are they in for a shock when that happens. Good luck Charlie!!
25 Casuals started in our MC on nights the other week. Only 14 of them finished the week after being "asked to leave" after being caught with Amazon / Lovefilm items on their person.

As the above poster has stated - at least with the Angard REGULAR Casuals, they KNOW the job, are vetted, and don't walk where they like and steal equipment as and when they like from the Mech Area.

You spend 1/2 hour getting all trays and empty yorks for your iLSM, to find that as you are labelling up, the Xmas Casuals are walking down your machine taking them - when you tell them to stop, they play the "Me No Understand" card. :d'oh! :speak to the hand
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Im a casual and i completely understand the grievance of both Angardees and Stampy.
Some of my fellow casuals cannot even place a letter inside of a box :nervous , the young ones are allways siiting around.
I dont know whats worse stealing packets or has one guy did jump over the entry barriers at the staff entrance because he didnt have his id pass.
