You'll always get people like that. So determined to blame others for the mess we're in, that they'll ASSUME that we're benefiting financially, when we aren't. Just to back up their assumptions. We didn't LOOSE money in the deal. But neither did we gain anything beyond the pitiful raise in basic pay (compared to inflation). But some people just aren't prepared to accept the facts.

Sorry. I didn't know that you'd lost some of your SA money. But my point was, that when the deal came in, we were accused of being the ones who voted it in. Because we supposedly stood to gain, without loosing anything. I knew that we'd been hit too. But you've just proved that some lost money indoors too. Besides. We're so vastly outnumbered, that we couldn't have been responsible anyway.

People seem to vote things in without thinking beyond next week! Never knew why my colleagues moaned so much about D2Ds, they used to be £20ish a week and that was over a grand a year.
If you were on Reserve and moving around duties, that people didn't want to deliver their D2Ds on, you could do theirs as well!
Best I managed was £80 one week! F Hard week but you got the money, no it's a pro-rata payment over just £10!
Cheers Lads.

Quite appealling in some ways, but I don't think the time is right! Doubt they'd offer it anyways.
You need to have at least 2 years service to be considered for VR, and then the minimum would be 26 weeks pay, which should be more than £3k if you are FT. Pro rata if you are PT, but even if you are on a 20 hour contract it should be more than £3k. It would only be £3k if your annual pensionable pay is £6k pa.
I am on less than 20 contracted hours but I do over 40 hours average throughout the year... *sigh* If they took O/T into account I would get 4x as much. I'd probably take it in that case.

As I understand it if you are on a PT contract, your OT is pensionable up to when you reach 40 hours (contractual hours + OT).
So that would count for VR payment.
Hmm..interesting. If true it will be interesting to see what the figure is if they do make the offer. How would they work it out though? Based on my average OT hours since I started? Do they even have a readily available record of that...

VR payments are based on the pensionable pay over the 26 weeks prior to the VR. HR wages section would have that recorded.
I had a communication today about the MC closing and the options.
I have over 25 years in , I am 58, I have taken the pension early, moving to another office is not an option I may be forced into VR ( compulsary could happen ) the VR rules state that from 55 - 64.5 you only get 26 weeks pay + enhanced pension how does this work when I already get the pension.
I am still paying into that new pension plan , but I am considering dumping it as my finacial advisor reckons its pants. Would dumping the present pension payments trigger the larger VR offer or not ?
Seem to me that this age group is being screwed as last year some one over 60 and with his pension, got offered £36k ( 104 weeeks ) at 61 years old. I would jump at that and leave a job open for some one younger with a family.
Thoughts or explanations please

As I understand it, if you are still paying into the NRA 65 Benefits pension (ie pension accrued after April 2010) you would get the pension due from that (slightly enhanced) + 26 weeks Redundancy payment.
If you take that extra bit of pension and come out of the RM pension scheme altogether, your NRA 65 Benefits pension would be actuarily reduced by 5% for every year before 65, but you should then be eligible for the full VR payment of 104 weeks for over 20 years service.
To my mind that would be the better option. I am not a pensions expert, but I have had this confirmed by my Area Rep, and RM Pensions Helpline, but I would suggest you confirm it for yourself before making any decision.

He must have taken all his pension entitlement (NRA 60 + NRA 65) and come out of the RM pension scheme completely.
I had and idea it was going to be that and I had it checked out today and your advice was sound, many thanks .
I have been paying into the new sceme for the last year and even my independant advisor has told me weeks ago its simply not good enough and I would be better served saving it some where else. I may top up my saving with the pennypost credit union and I think this is not only a sound investment, its one that avoids banks and is ethically sound.
The guy I was on about who was aged 61 had the maximum 40 year pension and stopped paying into the pension a couple of years before he started to draw his pension as 60. He is still here and actually wants to carry on working beyond 65............
