I live in Macclesfield, SK11, and have had very little mail since Christmas/New Year. Maybe nobody is sending me any you say. I know of at least four items which have yet to show up one of which was posted on the 11 December 2010. That was a large letter. I don't hold out much hope of getting the parcels I am expecting before Easter at this rate. When i do receive any mail my first and only delivery of the day normally arrives between 3 and 4pm. Come on RoyalMail, the service you are providing is an absolute shambles, and creating a lot of disappointed customers who will take their business elsewhere.

Royal Mail's managing director, Mark Higson, said the CWU strike was an "appalling and unjustified attack" on customers and showed a "reckless disregard" for everyone who depended on the company.

Mandelson branded the move "suicidal", adding: "I very much regret this decision by the CWU. Taking industrial action will not resolve this dispute. It will only serve to drive more customers away from Royal Mail. One thing this company cannot afford is strikes and industrial action. We are, of course, in frequent contact with both management and the union. Our message to them has been clear: put your customers first."

jethro, dont make me laugh. Please take your business somewhere else - that will relieve some of the pressure. Unfortunately, when yuo take your business somewhere else it still end with us mug having to deliver your mail. You cannot win except you want to pay a large amount of money to courier companies to deliver ordinary mail.

The system cannot cope. Even a private company will struggle (even with relaxed regulation) because this is a country that send loads of rubbish through the post. And everyone is trying to sell everyone else something - it is ridiculous how much useless mail is going through the post...

As for online shopping - absolute joke! Why cant people go to the shops - why do ppl get conned into behaving the same way. CD & DVDS can be bought in shops for not very much difference in price - and if there is a difference, the shops should reduce the price or govt charge less rates.

We need our shops and town and village centres. So some postie lose jobs but then there will be other jobs in shops and elsewhere. 24hr postie gets less than £200 (ab £178) a week anyway...

Yep we get ours from Manchester and its beyond a joke, the majority of letters aren't even walk SORTED let alone walk sequenced.

The other week they sent a york up where the whole york was for a different area, we immediately sent it straight back... the next day guess what turns up back at our D.O. ... The very same york.

What annoys me is that us on delivery can recieve warnings etc for something as minor as delivering one single letter wrong, yet these jokers at the MCs seem to just be able to get away with endless amounts of buffoonery and incompetence with no-one getting held accountable.

I believe it's the same all over. Some of that mail stored is from Great Sankey Warrington and Liverpool. Our centre is in mayhem. Can't cope with the backlog through
new integrations.
