The state of my mail centre i wouldnt lift a finger if i refused on the basis of putting myself in jeopardy lol!! ( thats not forgetting others)

How come the health and safety representative speaks to you like he's a teacher telling off a group of kids. I couldn't wait to get out of the last work time learning he was in, it was agony, worse than a manager on a blame trip.

I must say that I do not take that approach. I am open honest and receptable to the workforce.
Frankly, the managers, especially the deputy managers, locally, and middle management away from the office, that are the problem, IMHO.

I agree, I was on about the grumpy old bloke really. I suppose the supervisors and managers do their bare minimum when it comes to health and safety. If they dont push the yorks, tip the bags or lift the boxes, but only watch other people do these things then they are not going to get an injury. Why would they really put in any effort to find a solution, just get some points for doing a work time learning by mentioning yellow ties, 11kg, etc for the hundredth time.

Out of interest , how many trays of mail should 1 person lift and carry at any time ? I say one , others say 2. If the max weight is 10kg , lifting 2 trays would mean 1 person lifting up to 20kg. I see people (managers and staff) regularly do this , either lifting 1 tray of mail in each hand or lifting 2 stacked 1 on top of the other.

I always lift one at a time, others lift two but that's up to them, if they hurt themselves because of it then RM will show them no sympathy.
