mail centre closures list out september/october time ?

The Derby m/c cosmetic work is still continuing so i would guess this is a good indication our centre is doomed! Toilets have been completely replaced, stair ways filled and painted and there has been scaffold around the outside walls for almost 2months now so they must be undertaking some serious work there. The work they are doing must have cost a fortune so i dont they would have got the ok from management unless it was being sold off!

The 90 day consultation process has been and gone for us, still not a word not even from our union reps. Our union has told us they have signed a confidentiality form, now what the feck is that about, these people are voted in to act on our behalf surely that means keeping us informed all the way and asking US!!, what exactly am I paying my subs for

Apparently there was a meeting last week down in Gatwick re the Anglia Region Mail Centre Closures.....

No news in our MC yet..

Nor have our section had out WTL&L session which was cancelled (for the upteemth time) due to "Operational Reasons"......

All i know the proposals are the new mail center in Hemel is still going ahead(unless the rumour abour Asda beating us to the site is true )

Kings Langley DO Hemel DO Berkhamstead DO are to go in to the new mail center along with Hemel Watford & Stevenage processing

The old Stevenage office will have Welwyn and Hitchin DO's move in with the existing Stevenage DO

The old Watford site is going completely and a new Watford deliveries will have a new home nearby (Caxton Way on the same industrial site,but thats a secret,so keep that one under your hat)

As to other parts of the Anglia area i know not

When you said Anglia MC closures did you mean Hemel/Watford/Stevenage or the the rest of the area not yet announced?

I think the Hemel site is a done deal, 2nd class packets from NR and IP are being sorted there at Christmas as part of the traffic clearance plan.

There are rumours of a MC being built in Thetford. I doubt that PE mail could go here as it would be too far to process 1st class. Also Norwich has been designated a World Class MC so would now appear safe.

Despite it's small size and no mech it's hard to see Inverness closing simply because of the huge geographical area covered. It must be already hard getting 1st class mail from Wick and despatch in time

Im glad they are keeping Bristol MC open and that they are willing to keep a loss making operation open. Seems they dont mind wasting half a million on this place each year. Although I dont benefit from the management and friends corruption scheme which is now permanently rooted in place, I should still get the standard terms and conditions for a long while yet. Starting to feel like a second class citizen though, but only when I walk through the doors.

According to a friend, there are posters up in Peterborough MC stating that:-

World Class Mail is coming soon.......



So I presume they're safe!

Apparently the London MC decisions are about to be announced, possibly as early as Friday.
