dont do overtime baldrick but its like flys round s**t here at gmc as you can imagine......most of them just moan when theres none andstart blaming people without actually bieng constructive this seems like a good system what do you think em & stew go speak to your union
Doesn't concern me either, 40 hrs a week in that place is enough for me, and like you said .. they're like flies around the proverbial when the overtimes about, and it's usually the old favourites that get it.

If you get used to loads of overtime, like years back, then those people are the ones who wil be affected, because they've adjusted their lifestyle to match their income, and not banked for the decline in overtime now.

But, the system used at Mount Pleasant MC does seem fair, and IF it's carried out the same way in GMC it should be more practical .. that is if the person(s) offering the overtime don't do it in the underhand way they do at present, or the first come first served basis.
can baldrick from MPMC tell us at GMC how many people work there per shift???. :cuppa :wave .

Well said Stewie :Applause :Applause :Applause , lost count the number of times reps have been approached on the back shift regarding the disgraceful treatment of LTFT workers with regards to overtime and the shout that goes 'FULL TIMERS ONLY!', FFS these guys are on 40 hrs already and still want the pick of the OT but the reps turn a blind eye to the plight of the LTFT workers because as we all know, the reps all just happen to be Full Timers, f*ckin disgrace in my opinion, rant over [/quote]

Just a thought here emanon66 why dont you join the union instead of having a go. we remember where your support was when we went out on strike. Also yes the reps are all full timers but that is because no LTFT wants to stand. In fact we have 10 reps in GMC and until now there has only been 1 LTFT who has put his name forward so fair play to him. Regarding the O/T issue if you have the brains to check the list that is displayed outside the writing clerks office you will see the breakdown of the shifts that are booked per day. The LTFTs perform more O/t than the full timers but alas due to the higher numbers of LTFT it will always be tighter for them as there are many more chasing the shifts. As for Fulltimers having the pick of the shifts im somewhat confused when all we can perform is 930 till 1330 whereas the LTFTS can perform 930-1330,11-1500,11-1600,1300-1700 which is pretty much the full range of the O/T that is booked. So may i suggest if your struggling with your earnings go back to cleaning your windows or join the union.............1last point the breakdown of O/T booked last week was 39 shifts for full time and 68 for LTFTs. Work the maths out when your up your ladder with the shammy in your hand. :nana

Not sure of the figures now - so many people have left on VR/EVR over the last 12 months. And
there are at least a dozen attendances.
But at a guess I'd say there are probably around 200 FT on the early shifts, 200 FT on the middle shifts
and probably about 500 FT and 500 PT on the late shift.
Don't know about the night shift, but I hear it's been cut right back, so I'll guess it's less than 100.

btw it's the Bookroom (HR) that keeps records of everyone's hourage over the previous 12 months
and allocates any OT to those who put down for it on the basis of least hours carried gets the OT.

Keep the personal stuff of this whole board please.

This is a forum for discussion about work, union, Royal Mail - in fact everything except personal stuff - BTW if anyone decides to enter a PM discussion about this and the receiver feels it oversteps the mark, then please forward the PM to me and I will take action. Also its bad manners to try and "out" people on here. Anonymity is the reason why we are so successful lets keep it that way.

Now back to talking about other stuff not each other.

just a wee point of order for postie 75 when he says correct me if i am wrong about certain people who where suspended for

refusing to clear out an alt, he must have the wrong person because the person involved in that incident is CERTAINLY NOT

a strike breaker , just too let postie 75 know that he has mistaken identity

cheers
