We don't have a packet sorting machine, think only about half of MCs have one.

Whilst we're here, can anyone shed any light on LCM? As in, when a Mail Centre asks CPC for an extra collection or something, it's an "LCM"... It isn't on the Jargon buster and I've been trying to figure it out for years ... :arrrghhh

Wild guess from a retired DO Postie -“ask CPC for an LCM.” Local Collection Manager/Movement and CPC is perhaps Collection Processing Centre. Both wild guesses

CPC stands for something like Central Postal Control. When shift managers want to do some things, they have to contact CPC to get the authority, DOMs (or whatever they're called these days) will also have to report to CPC. Not heard of an LCM before.
