VR at MDEC

Post by LaPetiteMort »

Can anyone say how many applied for VR in this latest round?

Also how many are going to get it?

Hearing so many different things at work, sick of the rumours and gossip.

Any facts, please?

I'm based at Stockport.

That's a NO then. Thanks everybody. Great forum you have here.

We have been told yet again to expect an answer this week. I am not holding my breath! Why is everyone acting as though they are in MI5! I wait with bated breath.

I can't speak for Stockport, of course, but at Plymouth more people have expressed an interest in VR than they actually need to leave, or so we were told in WTLL this week. I'd expect the other sites to show a similar proportion.
You can't beat the system, but you can give it a bloody good kicking.

That happens in MCs too, but a lot of the people who 'express an interest' are just doing so to find out how much they would get, though they should be able to work that out themselves.
In my former MC when there was a VR/EVR trawl (almost every year) only about 10% of those who expressed an interest actually went on to take VR/EVR.

Does anyone know the numbers who got granted VR over the 3 Mdec sites ? Apparently staff were taken out with HR and told on Wednesday 30th July.

Six as far as I know from Stoke tonight. Given that Stoke mdec lost the night shift a couple of years ago & now fits the "mail profile", I'd assume that most of the 100+ to go this year will be from the night & early shifts at Stockport & Plymouth.

Edited to add: Hopefully WCM will crawl away & die due to lack of time when the mdecs are found to be short staffed after all the VR

How many staff are currently at Stoke ? I think Plymouth has the biggest turn over for Mdec staff.

Just shy of 80 staff I think, but don't quote me on that

So not many at all then really , do you know if many even asked for VR with it being such a low number ? I'm interested to see how many asked for VR and were granted in Plymouth Mdec.

15 I know of personally but obviously not the complete figure. Being the smallest mdec I still think Stoke is very vulnerable.

Your certainly the smallest if you only have close to 80 staff , so it's highly possible. What shifts do you have at Stoke ?

Mostly part-time lates 17:30 pmish to 21:45 & what's left of the full timers 14:00 to 21:45 (who've been shafted regarding overtime since the loss of the night shift). We share the building with other RM units so we may not be as vulnerable as the pessimist in me thinks.

Lack of people going at the 3 mdecs has been put down to the upcoming software not having the effect they thought. This could be true? Or it could be somewhere between disingenuous and b*##$hit.
What do u think?

I've since heard that around 100 people have been granted VR at Plymouth Mdec , so that inline with the numbers at Stockport & Stoke wouldn't be too far off what they were asking for anyway. End of the day Plymouth is the largest site and so I expected most of the redundancies to be there anyway.
