MDEC Censorship
I was not allowed to leave this info around the MDEC today, obviously the MDEC only want you to see one side of the current issues so here it is on this forum for you.

You have a good point, no one is allowed to hand out any union stuff during your working day. Shift Managers have banned it on the late shift as well. Your handout is all true especially if you factor in weekend shift may loose sundays something the management are very cagey about if asked another £70 on average lost.

Guys
I appreciate it is frustrating.
It would be good to encourage people to look at the CWU notice board.
I put something up this morning and checked the board. Everything is still in place including the 'Solidarity' notice.
RM Management do not have the right to remove anything from our board and so it is the safest and easiest way for people to read everything that the Union has put out.
Also it is a good idea for people to sign up to email alerts both from the Area Processing Rep and HQ.
GOOD LUCK TO US ALL AND HAVE FAITH

It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Well done lads. That Jeff Thomas sure can put a point across well - looks as though you have a good branch there.

evilc - cheers for that - Jeff Thomas IS a good guy, with a long history of being a tradeunionist. I have absolute respect for him and bow willingly to someone with much more experience than myself.
I am the early shift CWU Rep at MDEC Plymouth - being annon is no longer an option for me. I 'revealed' myself as Codebreaker on the last picket line to 2nd in control at MDEC (mpeard as was on here - who incedentally I have spoken to since in the workplace and still have respect for).
My personal belief was always that the owner of RM, effectively the Govrnment would step in. Hence my post 'Dear Gordon Brown', and 'part 2'. I am not happy that still I have not received a reply to my email to the PM's office.
Anyway, we are looking at a 24 hour strike from 7pm today. There is still time for a resolution. There is still time for RM, or the Government, to bring this to a speedy conclusion. BEFORE 7PM!!!
Guys, I will always be on the picket line, no matter how long this goes on for. Difficult financially but I see no way forward other than striking.
There will be no choice for RM in the end - I BELIEVE that Gordon Brown will issue a directive.
I would be gutted (tongue firmly in cheek) if one or both of the A's were 'encouraged' to spend a little more time with their families!

This might shed some light on MDEC weekend workingMDEC101 wrote:You have a good point, no one is allowed to hand out any union stuff during your working day. . Weekend working
Operating mail centres at the weekend is very expensive - especially when we are handling lower value products as this eats into our margins and reduces our profit. We are therefore changing Sunday working arrangements too, so we stop spending money processing non-time critical products and focus only on First Class and express products.
We are also consulting with Postcomm over stopping offering Sunday and Bank Holiday collections - except for our biggest posters. We are hoping these changes will be introduced by July 2007.
