Where would you like see the MDEC's in five years, what do you think would happen from now until then?

If plans go ahead for walk sort machines, the mdec's will play a more important part than they currently do now.

It's a super duper machine (Which has been kicked out of other countrys for being crap ) that RM want to put in,which when it sorts the letters it sorts them in the way the walk is in our frames.
The idea being that we just throw them in our frame in double quick time as all the letters run.

I agree, the best walk machine we have is your delivery postie, they know all about their customers,local changes that a machine will never grasp.

That is cause customers add wrong code to letter, some mdec keyers spot this but one of the so called rules does not allow you to correct this, if you do and they check your work then you are marked wrong as you are supposed to key what you see, i personally do not care if i see wrong outcode i will add correct one.

Mind you it does show RMs mentality when you are punished for going above and beyond the call of duty and improving the service you provide

The reason why they mark you wrong (as I'm sure you know) is because you are not allowed to use your knowledge as this can lead to errors and yet sometimes you can get things wrong for inputting data that you should know where the certain locality is. I generally key what I see, try not to correct postcodes if I need to get my "seeds" correct and key what I know the "seeds" require or try to key what I think the person marking wants me to key depending on the rules at the time. This works most of the time unless I am unfortunate and get caught out on typo's which happens to everyone from time to time.

For example Plymouth has PL and Glasgow has G in front of every number

I agree with what u say evilc but I have been marked wrong for correcting customers errors so I stopped for the sake of my seeds and my sanity

i care more about the mail piece reaching the right place than i do my seed score.
If mdec trainers want to mark the accuracy of our work by these stupid rules and not by how much of the mail i type reaches its destinaion then thats not my problem. I'm employed to sort the mail which the machines cant sort on their own, so i will do that to the best of my ability
