MAIL STRIKE

Mail at Haverhill came to a complete stop on Tuesday, September 6 as the 30 town postmen were caught up in the industrial dispute which has been hitting postal services over the preceding week.

The strike was called after two Haverhill postmen were told by management to go to Cambridge and pick up mail, which would call on them to cross a picket line to do so.

After being told they would be suspended should they refuse to cross the picket line all the postmen decided to withdraw their services.
