At the end of the rainbow is a ... POt of gold.

I was on a van delivery and snapped this on my return. I started to carry a little pocket camera around with me around 1980 ... as Forum members will continue to find out. Unless someone complains?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Pic was taken back in 2003, before they tightened up on the rules.

Used it to do a (semi) Rural Delivery followed by a small Packet Delivery in town

Best van I ever drove :Very Happy

I'll tell a little story which involved that van, and shows the foolishness of not thinking before you open your mouth.

The last call on my rural round was a house set in large grounds, with a long driveway which curved round behind the main house and ended up in a small courtyard. The usual procedure was to pull up, walk round to the main door, put in the mail, then walk back to the van, reverse it round, and drive out.

If the children of the house were home they would often come to the front door and take the mail, and eventually one of them asked the usual question you get from children "Where's your Cat?" My reply was "In the back of the van". Returning to the van I spent a minute tidying up the returns, docket card etc in the tray on the passenger seat as I usually did, then started it up, put it in reverse and....looked into the rear view mirror to see the children standing behind the van with their faces pressed up against the back window

I think i went whiter than the white cliffs of Dover :Sick From that day on it was reverse round BEFORE getting out with the mail and :nervous all around before doing so!

Couple more pics of the Popemobile in action

This was what I was faced with many a morning, on the outskirts of town, at the start of the rural round
