Penfold Pillar Box help needed

Post by fritz »

I am starting to cast an aluminium Penfold Pillar Box, it will be full size and I aim for it to be an exact replica, the issue I have is that I need a The coat of arms and the Royal cypher to put on it, these could be made of any material as I could use it to make a mold so I can then cast in Aluminium myself if I am not able to purchase them made of Aluminium directly.
I live in New Zealand so anything that is available will need to be posted.
If anybody can help with a web site or email address that would be much appreciated, thanks

Slight problem there.

There are different cyphers for each monarch since Queen Victoria, and for each of those monarchs there are different cyphers for which kingdom the box is located in. Thats ignoring any specific colour difference for the actual Post Box based also on location.

So to be historically accurate you'd have to have a lot of different options no wonder its difficult to get a copy. Perhaps a google image search and a local metal worker might be the best option.

Try the Letter Box Study Group (http://www.lbsg.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Its publications will have all the information you need on historic Penfolds in the British Isles.
