Do they HAVE to for a transfer - No I don't think so.

But if you have worked at RM from before they had to do them, then management might make it a stipulation.

I am not sure what you don't understand.

I'll try to simplify it.

Royal Mail can ask for a DB check on transfer, but they don't have to (as in as far as I know there is no requirement in law to do it).

Vanishingly small unless they have a reason to do so. Also, a DB check is not a background check its a criminal record check so unless you have been found guilty of something serious and have not disclosed it you have nothing to worry about.
