Newish to forum

Post by MerseyMan »

Had my induction day at Chester a few days ago and a couple of days into the job on my round with a HCT. The people I've spoke to and they guy showing me the round are a good bunch. My previous work has been heavy manual work so the physical aspect is not really anything to complain about. I can't help feeling there is something bad looming around the corner if I'm enjoying it at the moment...then that's just me :Very Happy
Not had the pleasure of putting all my letters in bundles so that my delivery goes smoothly yet so I will probably just write everything down and after that repetition should be the way
Already been asked to do the driving test, I can see many different rounds heading my way :nervous

By the way it's 25 hours OPG and I've been looking at the forums for a bit now and they have come in useful with answering some queries I have had.

Good luck mate, you're off to the right start. Any time I want some helpful, relevant and accurate advice I always look here first. I've only been in the job a few months and I'm being bumped from round to round all the time, but I'm still enjoying it. I think if you enjoy the outdoor aspect of it enough, then most of the grief and idiocy you see in the DO (and you will see it sooner or later!) just rolls off your back.

It does all get loads easier after a short while, just keep at it and don't let yourself be made to feel an idiot - every one of the other posties there was in the exact same boat once upon a time!

Fecking packages, :evil/mad can't even see the mail underneath them in the HCT. Just have to wait to get some uniform, in the meantime i'm getting soaked to the bone and getting some nice blisters due to my footwear :Very Happy

I always wear two pairs of cheap cotton socks to help prevent blisters - a useful hint learnt from my hiking days a lifetime ago. Can't offer much advice about all the bleeding packets, just be grateful you aren't trying to balance them all on the back of a bike - I swear I must look like some crazy circus act some days!

PS - I used my own waterproof jacket with a high viz over the top - the uniform is actually less waterproof than my own gear!
