Resign and return
Hi all I started 3 weeks ago but unfortunately didn’t take travel time into consideration. Said it was 25 mins to depot but in actual fact it’s 50/55 mins depending on traffic. I have no idea around the particular area which is making it all a nightmare. Enjoying the job being out and about but the travel etc is getting too much. If I resigned would I be able to reapply for closer to home in the future or would that be frowned upon? Thanks.

Request a transfer to another delivery office closer to your home town.

Hi thanks for the reply. Discussed that with manager and was told I’d need to do 6 months before I can apply for transfer. Think it’s more that he needs all the people he can get think I’ll need to chance resigning and reapply. They can only say no. They probably will but they are desperate

With respect, isn't Google Maps your friend? (Other maps are available).

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Resign and return
If you resigned I believe that you'd have to wait a minimum of 6 months before you could reapply, might even be 12 months

Re: Resign and return
Yeah I thought there maybe a cooling off period. But I’m thinking the fact they’re desperate it might be worth trying .
