THE POST Office watchdog is urging customers to have their say on proposals.

Postwatch say they have scrutinised and commented on the plans before they were made public – but that their final view will be based on the public’s response.

Chairman of Postwatch North, Judith Donovan, said: “Post Office closures are not good news for customers, but the Government has decided that a significant number are necessary to help put in place a sustainable network for the long-term.

“Postwatch accepts the rationale for change but it is important this happens in a way that minimises customer inconvenience and confusion. Post Office Ltd’s decisions must be sensible and public consultation meaningful. Our priority is to ensure this is the case.

“It is vital that changes in the post office network take proper account of the particular needs and circumstances of communities. We, therefore, hope both households and businesses can provide feedback on proposals affecting their area.

“Customers have six weeks to study Post Office Ltd’s proposals, consider what the implications are for them, and give their views. We urge them to do this.â€
