Notice of transferration

Post by jamesbrown79 »

My first post. My father-in-law is a subpostmaster (owns his convenience store) and has handed in his notice of transferation as he wants to retire. He wants his compensation so doesnt want to do a family transfer nor does he want to sell the freehold. Is it possible for me to lease the post office, so I can take over (saves POL trying to relocate) and start my business? And will post office still consider this a viable option within a Notice of transferration? Or does the notice of transferration mean that a completely new location be allocated? Please help....Thanks....JB jamesbrown79

If the PO side qualifies for one of the new models you can apply for his vacancy, he will get 12 months compensation, rather than the 26 months if the transfer went to another shop, you should get some help with any refurbishments, but check out the contact and pay rates, they aint good.

Thanks Subbie. His current premises does qualify for new model, so doea that means he will get full 26 month compensation? And if it tansfers to a new location which also qualifies, he will only get 12 months?

I understand the pay and terms arent as good as before, however I believe I can drive the retail side and offer the full range of post office services.
