Post Office seeks volunteer transformation advisors

The Post Office has launched a call for members to join its new advisory council, as it transforms the business into a multi-channel retailer.

The organisation recently launched a new digital platform as part of its strategy to modernise the business, with its CEO outlining plans for the business to change from being just a delivery channel to being like a high street retailer, like Sainsbury’s, Argos or Tesco.

“Following our separation from Royal Mail, this is an exciting time for the Post Office as we build a customer-focussed, multi-channel retailer with a powerful public purpose,” said Paula Vennells, chief executive of the Post Office.

“The Advisory Council will play an important role in reflecting a cross section of views, skills and experience from the diverse communities which make up 21st century Britain. So we want to hear from the people and organisations that value our services and want to work with us to innovate, support the transformation of our business and inspire a bright future for the Post Office.”

The Post Office is looking for 20 to 30 members with a broad mix of interests to join the advisory council. These could include an interested business, charity group, a customer or someone already working in a Post Office branch.

The council will meet three times a year from March 2014, and membership will be on a voluntary basis.
