Using Stamps for parcels

Post by derpderp »

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but wanted to confirm.

I'm sending a SD parcel in a large box weighing about 10kg, I assume it'll cost around £20-25 to send..

Can I use my xmas stamps to pay the postage? all 50 of 'em? :Very Happy

thanks

Yes, you can, but 1pm Special Delivery from 2kg to 10kg is £25.80 so that's 43 of your Christmas stamps leaving just seven spare for anything else you have to send this year. :Very Happy

There are some anomalies with pricing such as sending something weighing between 2kg and 4kg by Special Delivery.
That's £25.80 ( up to 5kg ) but split it into two packages each under 2kg and it's £22 ( 2 x £11 ) saving £3.80. :nana Where's the logic in that price structure ?

No, you can't use stamps to pay for PFW services, not since the middle of the last decade.

"Large" box might be a problem. The size limits on SD are not that big (see link below and click on FAQ):

If you turn up at the Post Office with your stamps already stuck on and then you have to use PFW 24 you are going to be mighty annoyed, so check the box using the link above before you apply those lovely stamps.

Snaggletooth wasnt suggesting that you could pay for PFW with stamps merely pointing out that there was a cheaper alternative to SD if the conditions were right, as I did with a lady who brought a box in, said which service she wanted, pointed out that PF48 was more cost effective, till she turned the box around, she works in a stamp shop, and had her twenty quid of ancient stamps slapped across the parcel!
