data capture and referrals

Post by silkspectre »

I'm sure everyone's office has lots of targets atm for getting customers on the phone or capturing their details on the system for a referral by post. I have one question. I noticed the other day that my colleague and friend is capturing people details from their passport applications after she completes a check and send on them, without actually asking the customers for their consent or even discussing the product with them. I don't want her to get in any trouble so is what she is doing okay? Else I can warn her to sto.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Ask your friend if they are doing it off their own back, or if they were asked to etc. It has been recorded before that clerks are encouraged to do things like his as there are an awful lot of managers running scared to keep their jobs come end of September and foolishly many counter staff and FS's are following in the wake of this fear and start doing silly things.

Remember the split bonds issue? Dozens of branch managers and a handful of CAMs knew about it and let it happen. Until BOI found out and then an awful lot of finger pointing started.

On one hand I can't get my head around the sheer audacity to do it, on the other, it's symptomatic of the environment POL have created.

I shall dub this new culture "THE RAPE OF THE CUSTOMERS TRUST IN US". Yes, that fits.

Just how many compliance rules etc are being broken here? Maybe if Financial Specialist reads this they can let us know.
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

One word- COMPLIANCE!!!

That is a definite no-no whatever the reasoning behind it.

I fully agree with Billy's statement about our customers trust and it's a sad indictment that things have got to such a stage in the pursuit of the odd address and phone number.

Tell your friend to STOP this immediately as if she picks a customer who is clued up on data protection, it might be more than the customer's trust that is lost.

One word again- COMPLIANCE!!!

(Another word- Unbelievable, with a capital 'U'))
