Devon Post Office® branches - Decisions on seven branches following further review

Devon Post Office® branches - Decisions on seven branches following further review
02/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today announced decisions on the future of seven Post Office® branches in Devon following the conclusion of a further review. The further review of these branches was announced in July when decisions on the future of a further 71 Devon Post Office branches was confirmed.

Post Office Ltd has decided to proceed with the closure of Millwey Rise*, Queen Street and Offwell. The closure and replacement by outreach service of Bridestowe, Shebbear, Lustleigh and Widecombe in the Moor is also confirmed,

Post Office® services in the area will be provided through a network of 333 branches, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the Government and ensures that over 99% of Devon’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

The plan confirmed today means that 40 branches will close or have already closed under the Devon area plan and 36 branches will be replaced by outreach solutions.

These decisions have been reached after public consultation and Postwatch, the consumer body representing Post Office® customers, has verified the correct consultation procedures were followed.

Full details of the decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk

Tim Nicholls, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for Devon said: ""We appreciate that any decision to close a Post Office® branch will be unpopular. Nevertheless, Post Office Ltd has to make decisions to close branches in order to put the Network on a more stable footing for the future and achieve this in a way which best meets the demands and concerns of its customers."

Post Offices in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Durham

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Decisions announced on the future of Post Offices in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Durham
02/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today (Tuesday) announced decisions on the future of Post Office branches in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Durham, following a six-week public consultation which ended on 11 August 2008.

Post Office services will be provided through a network of 364 branches, including 24 outreach outlets, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the Government and ensures that 99.5% of this area’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

The announcement today means that 56 branches will close in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Durham, with the first closures scheduled to take place in early October. These branches were detailed in the Area Plan proposal published on 1 July.

Outreach outlets will replace Post Office branches at 24 locations - details of each service are included on the attached list. One of the outreaches, at Rochester, Camien Café, NE19 1RH, is being introduced because at present the access criteria are not being met - there is no Post Office provision.

One branch originally proposed for closure - Blackhall Mill, 14 River View, Blackhall Mill, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE17 7TL, will now remain open, following a review of the issues raised during consultation.

Therefore, Post Office Ltd is proposing the closure of another branch: St Anthony’s, Nisa Supermarket, 1327 Walker Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE6 3JX. A six-week period of local public consultation will commence shortly on the proposed closure of this branch.

This will ensure that the planned future network can be supported by the available funding from Government and meets the criteria it has set, including the requirement that no part of the UK is advantaged or disadvantaged relative to other areas.

Full details of the decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk.

During the six-week local public consultation, Post Office Ltd received around 3,500 responses and attended 37 meetings with customers and their representatives to understand their concerns and to ensure that all information provided by them formed part of the final decision regarding each affected branch.

Adrian Wales, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager North East, said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly. We have considered very carefully all the comments made during the public consultation. We believe that the plan announced today offers our customers in this area the best prospect for a sustainable network in the future, bearing in mind the Government’s minimum access criteria and the other factors the Government has asked us to consider."

Branches In Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire And South Lincolnshire

Decision On The Future Of Post Office® Branches In Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire And South Lincolnshire
17/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today announced its decisions on the future of Post Office® branches in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and South Lincolnshire.

Following a six-week public consultation (*see Notes to Editors) ending on 26 August 2008, Post Office® services will be provided through a network of 453 branches, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the Government and ensures that 99.3 per cent of the area’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

The plan confirmed today (Wednesday 17 September 2008) means that 64 branches will close in the Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and South Lincolnshire with all changes expected to take place by the end of 2008. These branches were detailed in the Area Plan proposal published in July 2008.

The replacement of 16 branches by outreach solutions was also confirmed today.

Four branches originally proposed for closure - Bengeo, 19 Bengeo Street, Hertford, SG14 3ES, Twyford, Main Street, Buckingham, MK18 4EP, West Town, 105 Mayors Walk, Peterborough, PE3 6EY and Whitwell, 62 High Street, Whitwell, Hitchin, SG4 8AG will now remain open following a review of the issues raised during consultation. In addition Great Gransden Post Office® branch, 6-8 Fox Street, Great Gransden, Sandy, SG19 3AA, which was proposed to close and be replaced by an outreach solution, will remain open. We will also be trialling a new form of outlet at Havers Lane, 3 Dean House, Havers Lane, Bishops Stortford, CM23 3GB (*1).

Postwatch, the consumer body representing Post Office® customers, is further reviewing the proposed closures of the following branches: Conniburrow, 258 Conniborrow Bvd, Conniburrow, Milton Keynes, MK14 7AH
Fishermead, Fishermead, Milton Keynes, MK6 2LA Linslade, 33 New Road and Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 2LS

Final decisions about these branches will be announced in the near future.

In order to ensure that the planned future network can be supported by the available funding from Government and meets the criteria it has set, including the requirement that no part of the UK is advantaged or disadvantaged relative to other areas, Post Office Ltd is proposing the closure of the following branches: Cottered, The Village Hall, Cottered, Buntingford, SG9 9QL, Thriplow, 2 Middle Street, Thriplow, Royston, SG8 7RD and Walsworth, 136 Cambridge Road, Hitchin, SG4 0JN. A six-week period of local consultation will be announced shortly. Further information about the consultation will be released at that time.

Full details of the decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk

During the local public consultation, Post Office Ltd received around 7,400 responses and attended 68 meetings with customers and their representatives to understand customers’ concerns and to ensure that all information provided by customers formed part of the final decision regarding each affected branch.

A total of 134 branches in the area are being retained that support the only essential retailer and 221 branches that provide the only access to cash in the respective rural communities they serve.

It is proposed that 26 branches within the area will also have improvement works to better provide disabled access or increase the number of counter positions to ensure there is sufficient capacity.

Laura Tarling, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and South Lincolnshire said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly. We have considered very carefully all the comments made during the public consultation. We believe that the amended plan announced today offers our customers across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and South Lincolnshire, the best prospect for a sustainable network in the future, bearing in mind the Government’s minimum access criteria and the other factors the Government has asked us to consider."

Decision On Future Of Goswell Road Post Office® Branch

Decision On Future Of Goswell Road Post Office® Branch

17/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today (17 September 2008) announced its decision to go ahead with the closure of Goswell Road Post Office®.

The decision to close the branch at 131 Goswell Road, London, EC1V 7ET follows a six-week consultation period which ended on 26 August 2008.

Today’s closure announcement will mean a network of 689 branches will serve the London area with more than 99.9 per cent either seeing no change or remaining within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch. It will also ensure that the planned future network can be supported by the available funding from Government and meet the criteria it has set, including the requirement that no part of the UK is advantaged or disadvantaged relative to other areas.

During the consultation period Post Office Ltd considered all responses. There are eight Post Office® branches within a one mile radius of Goswell Road branch, offering capacity for additional customers as well as good disabled access and frequent bus services.

Anita Turner, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for London said: "We know that any decision to close a Post Office branch will often be unpopular but we have to put the network on a more stable footing for the future."

Decision On The Future Of New Costessey Post Office Branch

Decision On The Future Of New Costessey Post Office Branch

http://www.news.royalmailgroup.com/news ... ce_network

17/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today (17 September 2008) announced its decision on the future of New Costessey Post Office® branch in Norfolk.

Following a six-week public consultation (*see Notes to Editors) which ended on 26 August 2008, Post Office Ltd has decided not to proceed with the closure of New Costessey branch, 91 Norwich Road, New Costessey, Norwich, NR5 0AA.

During the consultation period Post Office Ltd received in excess of 620 responses about New Costessey Post Office branch and met with customers and interested parties. Concern was expressed about the effect closure would have on the local community and in particular high numbers of elderly and disabled residents in the area. Concerns were raised about access to alternative branches and information was received about local developments in the area including plans for additional housing.

Having taken into account local feedback and other relevant factors, Post Office Ltd has decided to retain New Costessey in the network. This will mean a total of 339 branches serving the Norfolk and West Suffolk area and ensures that 98.1 per cent of the community will see no change or will remain within a mile of an alternative branch.

Post Office Ltd will not be undertaking any further consultations under the Network Change Programme in the Norfolk area.

Issued by Post Office Ltd:
148 Old Street
London
EC1V 9HQ

Note to Editors

*The six-week public consultation period was extended by a week to take into account the August holiday period.

Cornish Post Office® Branches - Decisions Announced

Cornish Post Office® Branches - Decisions Announced
23/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today announced decisions on the future of Post Office® branches across Cornwall following a seven week public consultation which ended on 1st September. Post Office® services will be provided through a network of 228 branches, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the Government and ensures that more than 98% of Cornwall’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

The plan confirmed today means that 48 branches will close in Cornwall with the first closures scheduled to take place in October 2008.

Close Hill Post Office branch in Redruth, originally proposed for closure will remain open, following a review of the issues raised during consultation.

The replacement of 11 branches by outreach solutions was also confirmed today.

These decisions have been reached after public consultation and Postwatch, the consumer body representing Post Office® customers, has verified the correct consultation procedures were followed.

The proposals for replacement by outreach of two branches at Week St Mary and Whitstone are currently under further review, and decisions will be announced shortly.

Under its area plans for Cornwall and Devon Post Office Ltd proposed the withdrawal of the current Devon and Cornwall Mobile Post Office that operates from Tavistock and serves 19 communities in both counties. As a result of insufficient customer usage, Post Office Ltd confirmed today that 11 of the mobile visits would be replaced with ‘home’ outreach services and that eight others would cease.

Full details of the decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk

During the seven week local public consultation, Post Office Ltd received just over 3900 responses and attended 19 meetings with customers and their representatives to understand their concerns. All information provided by customers formed part of the final decision regarding each affected branch.

Tim Nickolls, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for Cornwall, said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly. We have considered very carefully all the comments made during the public consultation. We believe that the amended plan announced today offers our customers across Cornwall the best prospect for a sustainable network in the future, bearing in mind the Government’s minimum access criteria and the other factors it has asked us to consider."

Post Office® Shropshire And Staffordshire Area Plan - Pear Tree Decision Announced
23/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today announced its decision on the future of Pear Tree Post Office® branch in Rugeley.

The proposal to close the branch was made following Post Office Ltd’s decision not to proceed with the closure of branches at Greenfields and Stapenhill.

After reviewing feedback received on the proposal, Post Office Ltd has decided that the Pear Tree branch will close.

Post Office® services in the area will be provided through a network of 330 branches, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the Government and ensures that almost 99% of the area’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

Mark Partington, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for Shropshire and Staffordshire said: "We appreciate that any decision to close a Post Office® branch will be unpopular. Nevertheless, Post Office Ltd has to make decisions to close branches in order to put the Network on a more stable footing for the future and achieve this in a way which best meets the demands and concerns of its customers."

The decision has been reached after consultation and Postwatch, the consumer body representing Post Office® customers, has verified the correct consultation procedures were followed.

Full details of the decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk.

Decision On Outreach Service For Bedfield, Woodbridge

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Decision On Outreach Service For Bedfield, Woodbridge
30/09/2008

Post Office Ltd today (Tuesday September 30) announced its decision to replace Bedfield Post Office, Woodbridge, with an outreach service following a six-week consultation process.

The decision means the post office service will operate from Bedfield and Monks Soham Sports Hut, Bedfield, from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The same range of services will continue to be available with the addition of DVLA facilities. Customers can still collect benefits in cash using our everyday banking services or Post Office® card account.

In February, following the public consultation on the Area Plan for East Essex and Suffolk, Post Office Ltd confirmed its intention to replace the branch in Southholt Road with an outreach facility hosted by a neighbouring subpostmaster.

During the consultation period (which closed on June 6) Post Office Ltd received a small amount of correspondence. The comments received were fully considered including concerns about opening hours, accessibility and security. Taking all these into account Post Office Ltd remains confident that the new branch will meet the needs of the community.

These decisions have been reached after consultation and Postwatch, the consumer body representing Post Office customers, has verified the correct consultation procedures were followed. Postwatch has confirmed that it will not ask for any decision to be further reviewed by Post Office Ltd.

The decision documents are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk.

The details of the Bedfield Outreach Service are:

Post Office Confirms Changes To Network In North Wales

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

06/10/2008

Post Office Ltd today (October 07, 2008) announced decisions on the future of Post Office® branches across the North Wales area, following a seven week public consultation ending on 15 September 2008.

During this period of local public consultation, Post Office Ltd received around 1450 responses and attended 47 meetings with customers and their representatives to understand customers’ concerns. This also helped to ensure that all information provided by customers formed part of the final decision regarding each affected branch in the area plan.

Post Office Limited has decided to retain a total of 271 branches across the North Wales area, and to proceed with 48 of the closures and 13 of the replacement Outreach Services in the Area Plan Proposal. It is expected that all changes will be complete in the North Wales area by the end of January 2009.

Following discussions with Postwatch, the independent consumer body, Post Office Limited has decided not to proceed with proposed closures of the Cerrigydrudion branch and its replacement with an Outreach Service. Therefore, Cerrigydrudion branch will remain in the Post Office® network.

Post Office Ltd will not be proposing an alternative branch to close.

Post Office Ltd, has also considered and taken into account all responses received during the local public consultation in relation to the provision ofOutreach services across North Wales. As a result Post Office Ltd has decided not to introduce a mobile service but to provide a Partner service from the existing branch location in Trawsfynydd for 32 hours a week, and a Hosted service in Llansannan, from the existing branch location for 7 hours each week.

Proposals for branches at Church Terrace branch in Holyhead, Llandudno Junction branch in Conway Road, Llanfrothen branch in Llanfrothen, Penrhyndeudraeth and Llanfwrog branch in Denbigh Road, Llanfwrog are currently in the process of a further review. Post Office Ltd expects this to be concluded in the near future, at which time Post Office Ltd will communicate the final decisions.

Post Office® services will continue to be provided through a network of 271 branches, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the UK Government and ensures that 98.8% of the area’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

These branches were detailed in the Area Plan proposal published on 29 July 2008.

These decisions have been reached after consultation. Postwatch, the consumer body representing Post Office® customers, has verified the correct consultation procedures were followed.

As set out in our consultation materials, Post Office Limited is considering trialling a new type of Post Office® Outreach service in Golftyn. This was a separate announcement to our proposal to close Post Office® Golftyn branch. However Post Office Ltd confirms that it may not be possible to implement this trial at this juncture. This does not, however affect the decision to close the Golftyn branch.

All affected branches will now display a poster informing their customers about the decision that has been reached. Further information will be provided shortly afterwards in branch to confirm the actual date that the change will take place. This will be not less than four weeks from the date on which the decision is announced and the poster displayed. Where appropriate, information will also be provided in each branch to help customers choose an alternative branch that is suitable for them. We expect to complete all changes in the North Wales area by end of January 2009.

Steve Geraty, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for Wales, said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly. We have considered very carefully all the comments made during the public consultation and we believe that the amended plan announced today offers our customers across the North Wales area the best prospect for a sustainable network in the future, bearing in mind the UK Government’s minimum access criteria and the other factors the UK Government has asked us to consider."

"We need to look at the future and the long term viability of all the remaining branches in this area, especially in Cerrigydrudion. I would therefore like to appeal to all customers and businesses across North Wales to support their local branch and make it the first point of call for all business. We have a range of nearly 200 good quality, value for money products and services, representing the full range of financial products and information services - please use them."

END

Issued by Post Office Ltd
220 Penarth Road, CARDIFF CF11 8TA

Note to Editors

1. Post Office Limited has decided not to proceed with the closure of the following branches:

Post Office® Cerrigydrudion branch

The main concerns expressed by respondents during local public consultation regarding our proposal to close this branch and replace it with an Outreach service were in relation to the potential effect of the proposed closure on local elderly residents who use the branch to obtain pensions and pay bills, in addition to concerns regarding the distances to the nearest alternative branches and what were said to be dangerous road conditions en route. Respondents commented that Post Office® Cerrigydrudion branch appears to be well used, that it serves several surrounding villages and it provides a helpful and efficient service, including a facility for local residents to obtain electric key recharging and meter cards. Information was provided in relation to an approved holiday complex development on the Saracens Head Hotel site and a recently opened youth hostel and open-air activity centre at Ffynnon Wen. Respondents also commented on the opening hours at the nearest alternative branch, Post Office® Corwen branch, stating that this closes at 1pm on Saturdays and not at 5:30pm as stated in our consultation materials.

Three petitions and a number of generic campaign letters were also submitted during the local public consultation, all opposing the proposed closure.

In respect of the type of Outreach service, respondents did not favour the proposed Mobile service. Concerns were expressed in relation to the adequacy of the proposed visiting hours, which respondents said would not be cost effective and would not meet the needs of the community, the availability of shelter for customers waiting for the service, what was said to be a poor choice of location for the Mobile unit, outside the doctors surgery which is said to be often congested, and concern that the Mobile unit might be affected in its ability to reach its designated location during severe weather conditions in the area. Respondents commented that school buses cannot always get through during severe weather and also expressed concern regarding the security and safety of the Mobile unit and its operating staff. Some respondents suggested that a Hosted service could instead be offered from the current premises of Post Office® Cerrigydrudion branch.

Post Office Limited has considered all responses received during the public consultation and a review of this proposal has been undertaken.

Post Office® Cerrigydrudion branch is located in a convenience store and there are no other general retailers in the immediate area. The nearest alternative branch is located approximately nine and a half miles away in Corwen and there is only a very limited bus service available to this branch. Public transport in the area is generally poor and will be further reduced during the winter months. Post Office® Cerrigydrudion branch also serves a very wide community extending to numerous surrounding villages and the branch is also a designated outlet providing services on behalf of the British Red Cross.

Taking these and all other relevant factors into consideration, including the needs of our more vulnerable customers, Post Office Limited has decided not to proceed with the proposed closure of Post Office® Cerrigydrudion branch and its replacement with an Outreach Service. Post Office® Cerrigydrudion branch will remain in the Post Office® network.

Full details of all other decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk

7. The purpose of local consultation:

The purpose of this local public consultation is to obtain the views of the public and stakeholders on Post Office Limited’s proposals to ensure that the branches that are ultimately selected for closure, or closure and replaced with an Outreach Service, are appropriate.

From the outset of the Network Change Programme, Post Office Limited has made it clear in its communications that the Programme is not designed to provide a forum for debate on whether branches should close, but is about ensuring that Post Office Limited has the best available knowledge to allow it to make the most informed decisions about which branches should close.

Post Office® Devon Area Plan - Decisions Announced

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

14/10/2008

Post Office Ltd today announced its decision on the future of Moreleigh Post Office which was proposed for closure along with Abbotskerswell branch under its Devon area plan.

The proposals to close the branches at Abbotskerswell and Moreleigh were made following Post Office Ltd’s decision not to proceed with the closure of branches at Chelston and Torre.

After reviewing feedback received on the proposals, during a period of public consultation which ended on 22 September, Post Office Ltd has decided that Moreleigh Post Office will close. The proposal to close the Abbotskerswell branch is currently subject to a further review which is expected to conclude shortly. Post Office Ltd will then announce its final decision.

Post Office® services in the area will be provided through a network of branches, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the Government and ensures that more than 99% of the area’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

Tim Nickolls, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for Devon said: "We appreciate that any decision to close any Post Office® branch will be unpopular.

Full details of the decision and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange or by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk.

Decisions Announced On The Future Of Post Offices In South Yorkshire, Huddersfield, Colne Valley And North Derbyshire

14/10/2008

Post Office Ltd today (Tuesday) announced decisions on the future of Post Office branches in South Yorkshire, Huddersfield, Colne Valley and North Derbyshire, following a six-week public consultation which ended on 22 September, 2008.

Post Office services will be provided through a network of 255 branches, which supports the national accessibility criteria introduced by the Government and ensures that 99.4% of this area’s population will either see no change to their existing branch or will remain within one mile (by road distance) of an alternative branch.

The announcement today means that 65 branches will close in South Yorkshire, Huddersfield, Colne Valley and Derbyshire, the first closures scheduled to take place next month. These branches were detailed in the Area Plan proposal published on 5 August.

One branch originally proposed for closure - Wadsley Bridge, Law Brothers Garage, Leppings Lane, Sheffield, S6 1LR - will now remain open, following a review of the issues raised during consultation.

Full details of the decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by visiting www.postoffice.co.uk/networkchange, by writing to Post Office Ltd at Freepost Consultation Team (no stamp needed) or by emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk.

During the six-week local public consultation, Post Office Ltd received around 2,200 responses and attended 32 meetings with customers and their representatives to understand their concerns and to ensure that all information provided by them formed part of the final decision regarding each affected branch.

Decision On Outreach Service For Nacton, Ipswich

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Decision On Outreach Service For Nacton, Ipswich
21/10/2008

Post Office Ltd today (Tuesday October 21) announced its decision to replace Nacton Post Office, Ipswich, with a Mobile Service following a further six-week consultation process.

The decision means a post office Mobile Service will operate from the car park of George Court Sheltered Housing, The Street, Nacton, from 8.30am to 10.30am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The same range of services will continue to be available with the addition of DVLA facilities. Customers can still collect benefits in cash using our everyday banking services or Post Office® card account.

In February, following the public consultation on the Area Plan for East Essex and Suffolk, Post Office Ltd confirmed its intention to replace the branch in The Street, Nacton, with an outreach facility.

During the consultation period (which closed on September 8) Post Office Ltd received a small amount of correspondence. Concerns were expressed about opening hours, space available and the potential effect on traffic congestion. As part of the review Post Office Ltd investigated alternative locations for the Mobile unit.

Having considered all responses and taken relevant factors into account Post Office Ltd has decided the Mobile Service will operate from the car park of George Court Sheltered Housing. Post Office Ltd is satisfied that this location will provide adequate space, will not cause undue congestion and the opening times meet the needs of the local community.

The details of the Nacton Mobile Service are:

Mobile Service location - George Court Car Park, 1 George Court, The Street, Nacton, Ipswich, IP10 0EU
Opening Times Mon, Tue, Wed & Fri 08:30 - 10:30
Services The same range of services will continue to be available. Customers can still collect benefits in cash using our everyday banking services or Post Office® card account.
Access and facilities There is a step into the Mobile vehicle but access is available for wheelchair users via an electronic tailgate,
Transport There are parking facilities available in George Court car park
