ARMED thugs threatened to shoot staff during a £2,000 daylight robbery at a South Yorkshire post office.
The two men, in crash helmets, smashed the counter at Winterwell Post Office, West Melton, before snatching the cash, which was in Euros.
As they left, one of the raiders shouted to stunned staff: "Shut the door, or I'll shoot." The offenders then sped from the office on Melton High Street on a motorbike.
Police do not know what weapon was used to smash the counter or if either of the offenders actually carried a firearm.
PC Claire Mann, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "We believe these two offenders were seen around HL Brown Jewellers on High Street in Mexborough ten minutes prior to the robbery, wearing camouflage jackets.
"They entered the post office and smashed the counter with an unknown implement, before taking the money, all in 20 Euro notes. One made the threat but, thankfully, no-one was hurt, although staff were obviously shocked.
"If anyone has seen anyone with these descriptions acting suspiciously in the Wath, Swinton or Mexborough areas, or have seen the vehicle, please get in touch."
Witnesses described the motorbike as being a distinctive orange colour. (TNT
)But the registration number, apparently attached to the vehicle on a piece of card, was reported as L715 OGW which belongs to a black Honda bike.
One of the robbers was 6ft, wearing a black motorcycle helmet, black leather gloves and a black leather jacket with a blue stripe down the arms. The other was 5ft 10in and also wore a motorcycle helmet.
