Two O'clock and she thinks its late
ROYAL MAIL bosses have issued an apology to disgruntled Coventry customers after a catalogue of complaints.
Dozens of angry readers have written to the Telegraph over the last few months criticising the level of service.
These include delayed or lost post and mail dumped outside their homes.
The latest complaint comes from Margaret Crome, of Langton Close, Ernesford Grange, who says her mail is constantly delivered late.
She has called Royal Mail about the problem twice and says she was told they were short staffed and were using relief workers.
The bank clerk, aged 58, said: "I've been off work ill for the last five weeks and I've found out my mail turns up at around 2pm every day which is unacceptable.
"Luckily, it's not life or death for me but there could be people whose post is crucial. Not everyone has phones."
Yesterday, Royal Mail chief executive Adam Crozier issued an apology to our readers.
He said: "We are concerned to hear about complaints from customers in the Coventry area.
"We would apologise to those customers who feel our service has fallen below the high standards they expect and deserve.
"We will need to look further into many of these cases and would ask people to report any issues to our customer services helpline on 08457 740740."
But Margaret Crome said an apology was not good enough.
The grandmother of two said: "The service needs improving - it is totally unacceptable."
She added: "It takes a lot to get me angry and this does. It seems to be an ongoing concern and no one seems to be sorting it out."
