Woman's hilarious apology to postman after 'possessive' cat attacked him

The young woman said her cat Boris gets "very possessive over parcels"

A young woman is attempting to track down her postman so she can apologise for her "possessive" cat's behaviour.

During the busy Christmas rush, it's inevitable that postmen may be hissed, barked or growled at by pets, but one cat owner has felt the need to say sorry.


Serena Churchill said that her Royal Mail postman delivered a parcel through the letter-box of her home in Barne Barton on Tuesday morning, but had his hand clawed at by her ginger cat, Boris.

A video accompanying her apology shows the four-year-old cat hissing at its owner whilst playing with a parcel.

The 19-year-old said that she has warning signs that say to "beware of the cat" as well as the dog, but that it is always Boris who claws at the postman.

She said: "I tried to stop Boris but he growled at me. He always waits for the postman, doesn't attack very often unless they take too long or he can see a hand! He loves parcels, tries to carry them to either the kitchen window or toile.

"He's got a big personality."

Serena put out the apology on Plymouth Gossip Girls Facebook page, to which many said the post "brightened their day", and it received over 350 likes and comments.

In her post, she wrote: "If anyone knows a postman (Royal Mail) who probably got scratched whilst posting my parcel through my letterbox and heard me shout 'Boris no!', please tell them I am so sorry.

"It wasn't my dog, it was my cat. We have a warning sign on the door for both, even though it's my cat who attacks not my dog. He just loves parcels and gets so possessive of them."
