Royal Mail says it's been so impressed by the festive display of knitted and crocheted postbox toppers in Hertford, that they're matching the money raised for a local charity so far.
https://mm.aiircdn.com/18/5c176e39c13eb.jpgThe Secret Society of Hertford Crafters is behind the project, which has seen woollen figures including snowmen, gingerbread men and even a Christmas tree adorning boxes.
The company is donating £1,200 to Isabel Hospice, which provides free end-of-life care to patients and their families.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail told BOB fm: "We at Royal Mail were really touched to hear about the amazing work carried out by the Hertford Crafters. Like everyone else, we think that the decorative woolly hats they have created for our post boxes are a truly unique way of celebrating Christmas.
"As a way of showing our appreciation at this festive time of year, we plan to match the money raised for their chosen charity with a £1,200 donation."
The Society was also responsible for the recent display of poppies cascading down the side of Hertford Castle to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.
