'Don't blame the postman if packages don't arrive'

People should not to blame the postman if packages are not delivered in time for Christmas Day, said an MP.

Roger Gale, the Conservative MP for North Thanet, said that Royal Mail’s senior management were at fault for late arrivals after they imposed later start times and cost-cutting measure on postal workers.

He said some blame lay directly with chairman Allan Leighton and chief executive Adam Crozier.

“Royal Mail cannot be expected to suddenly turn on a supply of trained and skilled postmen if the work is being taken away from them during the rest of the year.

"It is time that the shareholder – the Government – and senior management woke up to the fact that they cannot expect Royal Mail to work under pricing formulae that deny competition, provide a universal service and survive.

“Either we want to preserve what has been one of the finest postal services in the World or we do not – but once it is gone we shall not be able to re-create it,â€

first sensible thing hes said in years, he always used to do the tour round my old D.O. every xmas, so he knows exactly what we are up against.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

When Leighton did the first " letter" , she did two open letter replies for LTB's , basically Leighton tried the cocky bullies response, how it was "just bluff & bluster" in his reply , so she did a second in which she wiped the floor with him but the union are sponsoring them . Quote Billy Bunter -'All this money for handwringing " >

I gave the first two Leighton letters to a TUC Lecturer /Official , he said they were appalling , unprofessional and thought that sort of thing had gone out in the 80's and said he'd use them to demonstrate how not to do things in IR .

Those letters are classic USA Sam Walmart style . Geraldine has basically gone with the party whip otherwise it'd be permanent exile to the back benches and be another Omah King or Claire Short on most policies .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
