Royal Mail Belfast delays sees company issue apology : Blaming recent bank holidays

Royal Mail has apologised over delivery delays in Belfast in the past week.

One customer vented their frustration when packages had not been delivered as he expected.

They said on Monday: "Royal Mail have not delivered post for the past two days in Dunmurry, but other areas are affected too."

Belfast Live asked the firm what happened.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We did see some minor delays in deliveries in the Belfast area due to the combination of the public holiday on the 12 July, followed by a local holiday on the 13.

"We apologise to customers affected by this and can confirm that our delivery schedule has returned to normal service.

I wonder if RM will eventually look at axing all "local holidays" and just having the statutory bank holidays only (and where they can standardising them across the UK)

Would probably be an unwise thing to do. Especially due to historical and religious connections of some regional holidays and days off.
