A Margate woman accused of running over a postman while over the drink drive limit was due to appear in court this week.

Sheree Fogarty, 43, of Millmead Road, had been served a requisition to appear before Margate magistrates on Tuesday (July 10).


Fogarty faces charges of driving while unfit through alcohol, failing to stop after a collision, and failing to provide a specimen of breath when required to do so.


However, the court hearing did not go ahead as planned.

The case has now been adjourned until August 9, to be heard again at Margate Magistrates Court.

The crash

Popular postman Vince Marsh was left injured after the crash at around 10.40am on College Road, Margate, on January 6.

Fogarty was first arrested promptly after but was later released, pending further investigation.

The air ambulance landed in Dane Park and flew Mr Marsh to hospital at around 12.55pm.

College Road was closed for several hours while the Kent Police serious collision investigation unit attended the scene and the vehicle involved was recovered.

The road was finally reopened at around 2.40pm.

Vince Marsh underwent multiple surgeries, and is currently taking part in physiotherapy to further his recovery.

He has not yet returned to his job as a postman, where he had worked delivering mail on his rounds for almost 30 years before the crash.

While in hospital, the popular postie hoped to raise money for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance who flew him to hospital and probably saved his life.

His family told Kent Live after the crash: "The idea came up because the local community and people who Vince delivered to wanted to do something for him.


"When we were asked about it we wanted any money raised to go to the air ambulance, as we wanted to show our deepest thanks for what they did for him, and the incredible work they do every day."

The family set up a JustGiving page of their own to raise money for the air ambulance service.


The fundraiser smashed its target and reached a whopping £1,252.

Mr Marsh's family shared a photo of his shocking injuries with his consent, adding that he had suffered a deep cut on his head "that went down to the skull", a fractured eye socket, four fractured ribs on one side, and a broken leg.

Mr Marsh has been a postman for almost 30 years, and is well known to the community and the people he delivers post to come rain or shine
